Parents get home from work tired. They have to make dinner and take care of multiple kids the last thing they want to worry about is reading log and asking did you read. The kids will lie and say yes. This also goes for homework, hence why I got rid of it years ago. It’s more work for me and the kids who are busy outside of school. When I think about exposing one kid to a lifelong of reading, we have no idea as educators how that has the potential to change the legacy of reading through education.
