Both. Power is not the root of all corruption, nor is corruption the root of all power. Humans are humans. What they do with what they get their hands on is all on them. In the same way, however, there are many who pass corruption on to those they pass power, which corrupts an innocent person. It's an endless cycle that began at the same time, and it will likely have to all stop at once to truly be over.

power doesn't inherently corrupt people per say, it attracts those who are already inclined towards corruption hence why I think corrupt seek power in a sense of removing its innocence on how its used. corrupt individuals want power as a means to exploit it, stripping away any potential for it to be used innocently or ethically.

Human nature is complex , and while power often tempts domination, it doesn't inherently erase empathy. A person with ultimate power can choose exercise compassion and understanding , though history shows that power can also corrupt.

It is in human nature to dominate. We've had to do so since the beginning of time just to survive (Survival of the Fittest, anyone?). However, that doesn't necessarily mean that with power has to come a lack of empathy. Plenty of leaders in our history have shown compassion and love and have remained that way long after they gained power (but notice that THOSE are the ones that are assassinated or thrown out of power). Human nature does not lie in complete and ruthless domination. It lies in corruption.

Having power is already a form of domination. In my opinion, this is inevitable. Whether you have empathy or not, power gives you an advantage over others. The meaning of power can be subjective, but it still creates a gap between people. I believe it’s human nature to dominate when one holds power.

I wouldn't like having too much power over someone. It removes challenges, and I don't think I would gain anything if I'm always in control over others.

It can go both ways depending on how the person was beforehand. Sometimes the power can get to the person's head and change them.
