The term leadership is also the most studied aspect of business and organization because it is the one overarching topic that makes the difference between success and failure. With the fast development of the society, the definition of leadership has always been evolving, and the current leadership standards focus more on democratic rather than autocratic (Hunt & Fedynich, 2019), therefore, changes have to be made to keep up with the trend in becoming successful leaders. Around the main theme of gaining a deeper understanding in leadership, the following content will demonstrate two goals which are flexibly shift between different leadership styles based on specific circumstances and creating a comfortable working environment for empowering team members to share their true thoughts. They also best represnts who I am and what I stand for. Although I have had previous experiences as leaders both in campus and at work places, I was sticked to one single style of autocratic style which barely share power with others and tends to centralize authority. However, this course opened up a new window for me and I started to recogniz the importance in having a flexiable leading style. Stated by Sharma (2020), leadership is not about a title or designation, it's about impact, influence, inspiration, and understanding. I was inspired by the current course discussion fourm, as all the discussions are focused on leadership related issues. Our current class is a large community and each time we have online sessions, we'll be discussing the topics and sharing personal experiences, which provides the opportunity to ask questions and acquire new informations from other perspectives. Moreover, we're able to practice different leadership styles within this sepcific community, as topics and tasks could be assigned for leaders who have the aspiration in changing or improving their leadership style to become more flexible.  
  
  1.b) In addition, my second action would be to regularly interview examplary leaders in gaining deeper understanding of their leadership styles and absorb useful knowledge through critically reflect on their successful experiences. According to Deiss (1999), leadership is a continous process of learning, which demonstrated the importance of keep learning as a effective leader. As we were doing the team assignment, I found that by having a conversation with an industry leader is extremly helpful. Since we only have   limited experience due to our age, these leaders' previous attainments are the best resources we could gain in enrich ourselves and supply the gap.

  2. a) In order to achieve this goal, it is important to always reflect and thinking critically from the feedback gained within and out the team. Thinking critically, each discussion we have had large impacts in decision makings and the processes involve continuously reflecting and learning. Therefore, I should take immediate action in encouraging team members to share their thoughts and values in day-to-day conversations and I should also hold sessions for team members weekly to provide feedback to each other. Aside from advices provided within the group, I should also listen to external voices since they are generally more objective and critical.

2.b) Lastly, I would start organizing leadership activities for my team members to empower themselves and develop their own leadership skills.  Just as Michelle Obama (2016), stated in her New Hampshire speech that “people who are truly strong lift others up, people who are truly powerful bring others together” (para,7). I should shift from centralizing authrity to encouraging participation and relying on subordinates' knowledge for completing the tasks. These skills could be applied in future team working situations which would leave a profound foundation for study and career development.
