I really enjoyed the speech. I thought it was super motivating for the troops going to war against the French.

The historical context is extremely detrimental in understanding how the Ethos, Pathos and Logos interact with one another to form a persuasive, convincing and moving piece.

All three elements played their part well in creating a historical moment in English history.

It proved to be inspirational and empowering with its use of ethos logos and pathos. The Ethos was apparent through the constant reminders of who she is and what she represents.

The logos promoted a Us vs Them philosophy.

The Pathos was visible through the constant reference to freedom.

We think the speech was very motivating. The audio struck our hearts. The speech also made us realize that the queen was ready to go out and fight in the battlefield herself for the safety of her country. This reflects upon her bravery and her character. The queen plays to the troops emotions by telling them (Pathos).

The Logos was reflected in the logic behind the war, how important it was for England to defend their land and faith.

We feel that Queen Elizabeth's speech is extremely motivating and exceptionally powerful. There is plenty of pathos throughout the speech, especially the way in which the Queen emphasises the trust she places in God and her commitment to her religious beliefs. Moreover, the logos is quite prominent in the part of her speech where she admits that she is not as strong as a man, which was the general view of the people at that time.Additionally, the Queen utilises ethos in the part where she signifies her authority as the Queen of England and compares herself to its Kings.Becauee of these elements, we feel that her speech is highly effective at grasping out attention and we appreciate the way Queen Elizabeth incorporates pathos, logos and ethos in it.

Queen Elizabeth's speech to the troops at Tilbury is a great example of a powerful rhetoric in which she effectively uses Pathos, ethos and logos to convey her motivational speech and have a great effect on the troops. By portraying herself as a courageous leader she successfully adds credibility to her words and effectively inspires the soldiers by using ethos. Her words invoke a strong sense of patriotism and unity amongst the soldiers, her will to defend her people is evident by referring to herself as a fellow soldier, ready to risk her life, the emotional bond created displays the pathos present throughout. Lastly, logos gave reason to her speech and emphasized on their duty to fight for their country against the Spanish Armada. The use of persuasive elements increased their determination to protect England and made them realize their capabilities.

We found Queen Elizabeth's speech to the soldiers really inspiring and motivating. She uses Pathos, Logos and Ethos in her speech to convince the soldiers and try to have an impact on them. Elizabeths speech is rich in emotional appeals. She spoke of her deep love for her people and her willingness to risk her life alongside them. She used emotional language to evoke a sense of patriotism, unity and the importance of defending their homeland. She accepts the fact that she is a weak woman but at the same time explains that her heart is like the heart of a king and her speech to her troops in 1558 effectively portrays pathos by appealing to the emotions and patriotism to her audience. Queen Elizabeths use of ethos was evident in her positioning as a trusted leader. She portrays herself as a figure with a strong moral character and authority, making her troops more inclined to trust and follow her during a critical moment in their history. Moreover, Elizabeth also employed logos in her speech to her troops. She explained the strategic importance of the battle emphasising the threat posed by the Spanish Armada and the potential consequences of their invasion. She urged her troops to think logically about their duty and their role in preserving their country's safety and prosperity. This combination of techniques helped inspire and motivate her troops to victory.

She emphasised upon her strength and resolve as a woman who had the heart and stomach of a king. Elizabeth used a lot of religious language and empathy.

Queen Elizabeth's speech to the Troops at Tilbury in 1588, depicted the importance of her country and people.Through this speech the use of pathos, ethos and logos is evident, and they play an important role in getting her point across. She displayed immense passion and emotion to portray her selflessness for, 'my God, and for my kingdom, and my people, my honour and my blood, even in the dust'.Her enthusiasm is very moving and in our opinion served as a crucial part to motivate the troops. The use of ethos is showcased when she promised the credibility and reliance on her lieutenant general, ' a more noble or worthy subject', depicting how she truly cared for her people and wanted them to feel respected, and given the best treatment possible. The use of logos is highlighted when she appealed to the troops by using logic to shed light on how this was a issue which required a resolution, not for her betterment, but for the people and country, 'Not for my recreation and disport, but being resolved'.This portrays how she addressed them with an open mind and set a base for them to think with logic in perspective of the conflict being faced. In our opinion this profound speech leaves a heartfelt effect on everyone including the troops, as genuine concern is depicted for the well being of her people and of her country. We also think that this instigated feelings of power and honour in the troops as they realised the significance of the cause they were fighting for. This is a truly heart warming and touching speech, which held immense importance in inspiring the soldiers.
