The protests, though, could often turn violent. Strikers often ended up hurt, abused, or threatened by growers and police. Some accomplishments he had include establishing minimum wage standards, wage contracts, safer working conditions, child labor reform, and other advancements in civil rights for farm workers. One of Cesar Chavez's biggest partners in the grape strikes and movements was Dolores Huerta. He talks about how all of the fighting they have already done won't matter if people keep getting sick from the pesticides. He uses real quotes and stories to give his speech a more influential and personal effect. He talks about the living conditions and abuse farm workers already have to go through while working on the farms. In his speech he also talks about how much pesticides are used on farms. He mentions the harmful side effects of consuming and breathing in the air of them as well. He also mentions that beyond how harmful they are, they aren't working either.
