My eyes were squinting as a glimpse of sunlight shun across my face. My hand was gently positioned above my forehead. A flock of birds squawking above. Splash. Splotch. Waves tickling my toes as I'm digging them into the damp sand - it was peaceful. Palm trees slowly dancing side to side ; a cold breeze of wind constantly changing direction after a short period of time - left and right. Slowly, the different-shaped clouds were moving towards the east coast. For a moment, I felt like I was drowning in a deep sea of feelings until I let out a silent sigh. A voice exclaiming my name "Saifana!".

Half-past five; I snapped out of my blank zone; finding to see my dad suddenly appearing before me. The sand felt hard, yet I still managed to march through it leaving deep footprints.

With a ding, the pilot's voice rang throughout the aircraft. As the plane veered to the left, I caught a glimpse of the green ground far beneath me. Loudly snoring, the passenger in front of me was interrupting my movie. Air turbulence jolted me from my seat, fully waking me.

As the wheels hit the ground, I was prepared to leave the plane. While searching for my luggage,

The elephant died first. Clinging to the tree bark, our eyes narrowed at the hunter, who clutched a bloodied arrow like he'd just won an Oscar. I shook my head, grimacing.

When we had first arrived in Sri Lanka, it didn't occur to me that a trek through the jungle would mean experiencing death. We'd brought enough supplies to last us; without having to slaughter shrieking animals.

The tour guide tutted, closing his eyes and fruitlessly attempting not to scream. Beads of glistening sweat trickled down his earlobe, mingling with something that looked suspiciously like a teardrop. Slivers of sunlight poured past the emerald green vines, which hung like a curtain overhead. With each whisper of the wind, they tore gravity in half.

"Let's move on," the tour guide grumbled, sniffling into his olive-skinned elbow. "This way."

We nodded obediently, adjusting our backpacks and treading apprehensively through the damp earth. Weeds of fuschia sprouted past buttress tree roots. They weaved past our toes, bleeding into blurred into soft violets and cobalt blue.

The tour guide's toe caught in a weed, and he tumbled to the soil with a high-pitched scream. Sniggering, I reached out an arm.

"Are you alright?" I muttered, still stifling a barking laugh.

He grumbled, a string of profanities leaving his chapped lips. Then, he carried on, this time alot
more cautious.

Aarghhhh.

The antique Taylor Swift's'Love Story' blared from the backside speakers. It was a normal road-trip ride, the clusters of stars shimmering in the night sky. The traffic was unusually high for a countryside road however it didn't really bother anyone... until the sirens of a police car went off.

"Dad!
