- Recount text – Last Holiday and Last Visit Hometown

The orientation of this text is the first paragraph to the third paragraph because these paragraphs are explaining or introducing the story that the writer wants to tell us about. Then, the events in this text are from the fourth paragraph to the thirteenth paragraph. These paragraphs tell us about the writer’s experiences, what she was experiencing during her holiday in her hometown. The re-orientation of this text is the last paragraph, that paragraph tells how the writer’s feeling after her experiences in her hometown during her holiday. 

-My holiday recount

The emotional language in this text is happiness, it is highlighted from how the writer wrote the recount, she wrote it with diction and language that make a happy impression to the readers, besides that, she also used the capital letters and many (!) as if showing how happy she was. The dialogue makes the story more engaging because it makes the readers imagine or picture what the figures in the recount text said, besides that, dialogue makes the recount text less flat and more lively.

The orientation is can be “I’d like to tell you about my last year’s holiday vacation in 2019 with my big family! Hope you like it!

Last year’s holiday, me and my family went to our hometown in Ciamis. We went there on the 20th of December by car. I had a great time and I did fun activities.” because it is the part of initial introduction to the story.

Events: the events is, they were went to their hometown, Ciamis. And did some activities that can entertained them.

Reorientation:

The reorientation is can be “Visit my hometown and holiday with a big family last year is very amusing for me. Although that was a boring day, I have do fun there! All the moments and experience on holiday last year was interesting. I would never forget it, I love them so much." because it is according the same meaning of “i had a great time and i did fun activities” in the orientation.

The emotional language highlighting happens and excite. The article become engaging because of the writer’s perspective and writing style. The perspective was a mixed between first person (came from herself) and second person (telling her families perspective). The language style using energetic word that give positive and exciting vibes.

7. played some arcade named “sepeda goes”. We had to oar the four-wheeled cycle. I played with my sister and cousins

10. my niece and my nephew had a fever.

11. the fifth day, I had nothing to do. so I just watched some videos on youtube, Instagram, chatting with my friend on the line app, and sleep

-How does the dialogue make the story more engaging

The additional dialogues provide the actual atmosphere evidence. So the story become more engaging and the reader can feel the excitement from the writer.

Based on a blog, an emotional leanguage showed by writter is clear, and to make a story more interest, an emotional feel need to added to story. A dialogue make we are engaging because a story like use a interactive sentence and the writer use a somand sign and her leanguage is very clear and to the point

The author used time connectivities including last year, at night, first.., the second day, after we.., then we…, although after that.., etc make the storyline continue and show the sequence in order.

2. The author showed her emotional well in her writing, for example she used the ‘it was like ALL my Christmases had come at once!’, ‘I was SO excited’, etc. The using of dialog and emotional language make the story more engaging and interesting because the story is more alive.

The orientation of the recount text in title “ Last Holiday and Last Visit Hometown” is in the first paragraph, she introduced the story by telling where the experience occurs which is last year on the 20th of December . The series of events in this text is from the first day to the fifth day by explaining what she did in the holiday. And the re-orientation of the text is in the last paragraph by telling how did it feel and  a short conclusion of the experiences. The time connective in this text are last year, the first day, the second day, first, then, after that, the third day, the fourth day, and the fifth day.

• The orientation of the first blog can be seen on the third paragraph of the whole blog. This paragraph introduce the background of the whole story.

• The re-orientation is the last paragraph. It's because, in the last paragraph the writer told her personal feeling. She told about her personal comment.

Orientation:
From “Hello this is me in 2020!” till “…I had a great time and I did fun activities.”
This is orientation because it introduces the writer, the holiday setting, and gives a quick summary before the details.

Events:
From “On the first day, I just babysit my niece…” till “…watching youtube, chatting with my friends on LINE, and taking a nap.”
This is events because it explains the day-to-day activities in order, showing what actually happened during the holiday.

Reorientation:
From “That’s all about my last holiday story…” till “…thank you.”
This is reorientation because it closes the story with a reflection and a simple ending remark.

"My Holiday Recount"

The text feels really happy and excited because of the words the writer used. She sometimes puts words in capital letters and lots of exclamation marks to show how she felt. The little bits of dialogue also make it easier to imagine what was happening, so the story doesn’t feel boring but more fun to read.

The events are in the fourth to thirteenth paragraphs. These paragraphs describe the writer’s experiences and what she did during her holiday in her hometown.

The re-orientation is in the last paragraph. It shows the writer’s feelings after her holiday experiences in her hometown.

My Holiday Recount

The main emotion in this text is happiness. We can see this from the way the writer chooses words that sound cheerful. She also uses capital letters and many (!) to show how excited she was.

The use of dialogue makes the story more interesting. It helps readers imagine what the people in the story said. This also makes the recount more lively and not boring.

• What makes data reliable or unreliable?

• How can we represent and describe data effectively so that others can understand our message?

• What challenges did you face when collecting the data? How did you deal with them?

Following that, to build a strong argument, you need data, which I assume to be better than any kind of resource such as “statement” on articles or whatever likewise. The numerical factors which we are able to trust better seems like becoming one of the biggest determinants of whether you're gonna win the audience with persuasive numbers or not at all.

My points when we have a discussion in our team are also useful in my opinion. I realized that I still lack of debating skills, which I need to improve. One of which is persuasive skills and speaking skills. During the rebuttal, I can feel that the way I speak is not persuasive enough, but rather unconfident. I would need to improve these skills specifically.

But at least through this debate, I learned a bit on how to build an argument, even if it's not that strong. First, I search journals to be my sources. the journals would have to be related to the motion. After that, I read through all the sources, and take notes of some important points. Then, I made an argument and think of what would the opposing team argues, based on my sources. In my opinion, the key of building a strong argument is to predict what would the opposing team argues, use data, and try to shift their persepective on the motion.

From this activity, I realized that my public speaking skills need to be trained because this skill is crucial and might be helpful for my future.

To make a strong argument, we need a strong example that supports our idea, find the opposite side's weaknesses and then link it to our resistance argument. However, ensuring the stable flow of our argument (not planga plongo either ngelantur) can reduce the weaknesses gap of the argument.

From this activity, I realized that my public speaking skills need to be trained because this skill is crucial and might be helpful for my future. 

My strongest contribution during the debate competition is when I'm a second speaker and try to rebuttal against the statement. I gave a strong journal about grammatical error behavior that might bring permanent error. Then, I tried to speak confidently in an effort to make my opinion more acceptable. Then, the skill that i need to improve is research skill, mostly i used ai (tbh) for helping me when argument building. So, the research skill is most important and that is the requirement for debating events. Moreover, I had been a moderator that improved my soft skills and being a moderator but it still needed to be upgraded. Lastly, the strongest argument is not only a logical but also real world example and journal evidence. In every opinion, they need to be supporting evidence to prevent bias and make the argument weak. So the strongest argument appears with a collecting example and journal. The speaking skill (clear and confident) also requires to ensure that your opinion can attract the audience and adjudicator.

From the last debate, I have improved some of my debating skills. I learned how to work in a team. In a debate, teamwork is a very important thing. We were doing some research together before the debate based on our position during the debate. After we find the sources, we can make strong arguments for the debate. Beside that, I also improved my listening and speaking skills. However I still need to improve my fluency in delivering my ideas.

From this debate, I learned that building a strong argument for debate needs clarity and critical thinking. We also need to improve our listening skills to respond to the opponents arguments.

Then which skills that I need to improve when debate is such as fluency, confidence, and listening or receiving information. I realize that fluency in the debate is really important because in a real debate it is known that sometimes it doesn't go as we want, and we must be able to handle the challenge that comes to us. Then listening skill is important to rebuttal because we need the information from the opposite team.

And in my opinion, to make a strong argument we need to provide the resource that we find before start the debate, and we need to speak clearly to get the attention from the opposite team also.
