Thanks for your messages. I am glad that you are thinking ahead with regard to your Monday test. This way, I am sure you will gain a satisfying result and the powers that be will be suitably impressed!

The format of the test will be as usual. It will be in two parts: the first of these is the ‘grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation’ section. In the grammar section, you will be tested on each of the topics you have covered this week with Andrew. 

In the vocabulary section, the words that we have covered, for example those from the word list I gave you, will be explored. Also, you will be tested on the prefixes we explored. I tend to use synonym matching tasks for this or ask you to give examples of the use of a word in a sentence.

Be aware, also, that there will be pronunciation exercises in this first section as well. These will be restricted to those you can do without using a CD to listen to – so they will involve matching a sound symbol with a word or thinking of homophones (words that sound the same but are spelled differently, together.

The second part of the test will be a writing exercise set by Andrew and this will be an email. I hope this is all clear to you.
