MEGAN BOWMAN
The most interesting thing for me came from the first video Office 365 for Education. I found the biology project really interesting. A boy took pictures of a plant every hour for 7 days and at the end he put all the pictures together and it almost looked like a time lapse video with all the pictures. It showed the plant growing over the 7 days. I thought that was a really cool use of technology and even though it was simple, I would have never thought to do it like that. When I was in middle school I had to do a project similar to this but I took a picture every day for two weeks and glued the pictures on a poster board, I think the use of technology makes projects like this seem cooler. In the working world today I realize collaboration is so much different than it was just a few years ago. The part of the video that really got me thinking this was at the end of the first video when the students were using Office 365 to do the weather project. I think it was really cool that the students were able to use different devices and have it all be eligible to share without even needing to meet up. I think this is how group work and collaboration is coming about because it makes it so much easier. I always hated getting together because it was such a struggle to make sure everyone in the group could meet up at the same time and at the same place. The second video really put this into perspective for me because it was showing how you can still communicate with one another right there on the project without having to meet in person. Everyone had access to the project and were free to make changes and suggestions. I think it makes collaborating easier because you can do it from anywhere. I wish I had that kind of experience when I had to do group projects in school.

All of the points made were very interesting to me. I found the second video of Office 365 was very exciting. I enjoyed seeing the new technology that allows group projects to be interactive without having to meet at school at inconvenient times. This allows students to work together even with a busy schedule. I also found the first video of Office 365 interesting because I was not taught like that in school. Being able to grow a plant and turn the growth into a video is amazing. This allows students to be more engaged while learning. Throughout school I did not learn with computers very much. We would sometimes get the laptops but only for special occasions. I learned with the projectors in elementary school, and white boards in high school. The projectors were always disappointing, I knew that if I walked into class and the projector was there, it was going to be an extremely boring class. I believe that all of the videos can be compared to working in the real world. The group project can be done with coworkers in different offices or even at separate cubicles. Each mini clip of ideas to use Office 365 in the first video can also be compared to the work place. Studying the growth of any growing object can help many jobs, and being able to write directly on a tablet is very helpful for all positions. I enjoyed watching these videos because it has shown me how much technology has advanced from 6 years ago when I was in high school.

CLAIRE MILLER
The first video was most interesting to me. I was inspired by some of the projects the students were doing. The boy that grew the bean and took pictures of it each day was able to make a time lapse video with his pictures. In high school I did a similar project with radishes but instead of making a video, I just put the pictures on a PowerPoint. I think I would have enjoyed the project a lot more if I had known I could make a video. The weather project the students worked together on was also really cool to me. Each student collected data and easily put it together in an attractive looking document. There are so many options now for projects with the use of Office 365 and other programs. Pretty much everything from all of the videos was different than what I was taught. I haven't taken a computer or technology class in about five years and a lot of things have changed since then. I don't really know anything about how to use OneDrive or how to collaborate with others while working in Microsoft. The second video reminded me most of how people learn today in the working world. The way the speaker described collaborating with someone on a project while they were in separate places made me think that maybe people won't have to travel as much for business in the future. They can learn from each other through programs like Office 365 in the comfort of their homes. The first video can also be connected to learning in the real world because adults also collect and present data to others. I have friends going into environmental science who will probably do something similar with pictures and time lapse videos to learn about development of vegetation like the student in the first video. Or business majors will most likely make surveys and collect data to learn what their consumers want like the boy with the lemonade stand.

ROBERT TABOR
These few short videos were inspiring to me, and they have definitely spiked my interest in technology. Promotional videos such as these, are obviously geared towards encouraging people to use their programs, so they are always going to make things look extremely useful and practical, but I still really see the value in some of these tools. All of them seemed to be a useful addition to school projects and assignments. The first video was wicked cool, and showed how collaboration could be so simple once you have introduced technology. Students had their own E Portfolios that they could save all of their school files to and access anywhere. They could open and work on projects with others in real time. I noticed that in one of the clips, there were three students outside taking photographs and gathering information while the other student was putting together a document. The photos were added as soon as they were taken! Super cool! Also really neat was the Excel program, which regrettably I am not at all familiar with, and it bothers me that I wasn't trained to use it. The kid doing market research was able to have the program create a graph for him! That cuts some of the more mundane work out of research and may make it more fun and rewarding for students! I also obviously really enjoyed the time lapse of the plant that PowerPoint was able to create after the student uploaded all of his pictures. That makes projects like that so much more interesting.

Being in the awkward in between years of technological advancement when teachers were unaware or unsure of using technology in the classroom, I was taught little more than how to create a PowerPoint and use Microsoft Word, and we never truly explored the potential of these programs. Instruction was simple, straightforward, and rarely bothered with the details that make some of these programs incredible.

The second video reminded me a lot of how people learn today in the working world. Its almost entirely from collaboration and apprenticeship. When on the job, most of the skills and tasks you learn to master come from others who have previously mastered them, or from one and other when faced with an obstacle to overcome. Technology allows for you to work with coworkers and colleagues from across the street, or across the globe, without having to leave your office or home. It is really neat to see how many options we have available to communicate with one and other. Like the commentator mentioned, you can now emulate the collaboration that takes place with others sitting over a notebook or in front of a whiteboard.

Mariola Mazur
In the first video, the way the students got to incorporated technology in any assignment they were given was interesting to me. Even when the students worked together they incorporated technology really well into that assignment and each person did something different. In the second video, I found the collaboration part interesting. The people didn't have to be next to each other. That means you could be in a different country helping one another! The parts that were different from the way I was taught was mostly everything that was stated in the two videos! It was incredible to watch how teaching has changed since I was younger. The only tool I've used that was in the video was the spread sheet. The rest I never knew about. Finally, the parts that reminded me of how people learn today in the working world was seeing in the videos how everyone has some sort of technology on them. There seems to not be a time when something couldn't be done through technology.

Kara Trent
In the first video I found it really interesting that each and every student was given the opportunity to incorporate technology into their assignments. Each student found a different way to do that and it was awesome to see what they came up with!
In the second video, I really related to the collaboration. I do not live close to campus at all, so group projects are not easy for me to just go and meet up about. This video showed that you could literally be anywhere and working together on something.
I think that technology has definitely taken over since I was in school. We hardly ever used computers when I was younger, but now they are using their own tablets and even finding new ways of doing their homework. I don't think I would ever have been able to do what kids do now back when I was in school. I can hardly do a lot of that stuff now!
People in the working world have to have conferences all the time and with a lot of the big companies they have to be able to communicate across the country and even the world sometimes. This is now easy to do with video calls and face time chats. Technology continues to make communication easy.

Jessica Fleming
In the first video, it definitely blew my mind that there was so much into technology. I had no idea all that could be available for students to use.I must've lived in a third world country hahaha. But it was interesting to me, for instance, in the science project, how he took pictures of his plant growing and then made it into a video. Or in the weather project when they were writing on the tablet. Or how easy it was to make a graph.
This whole video was different then the way i was taught. Back when I was a child in elementary or middle school, we only used computers to practice typing. When I was in college back in 2003 was really when I was introduced to computers.
People nowadays, in the working world use technology so much and I would assume have learned so much from technology just because they use it everyday. Now that technology has allowed for people to use facetime for conference calls I would imagine it is alot easier and so much better for people to stay connected with family. This could also be a plus when turning in assignments to teachers instead of turning in hard copies.

Abigail Payton
I really enjoyed both of the videos this week! The first video amazed me with all of the resources that students have in learning. The technology is able to create things that were never done before in the classroom. For example, the plant growing project. This resource of having a camera and placing the photos into a video would have been an amazing experience to see and memorable for the student.
In the second video, I was interested in the communication between two people that were not in the same room. There were many different tools that have been added to Office 365 that are very useful. Being able to communicate with someone else on the same project with many different tools allows endless ways for students to collaborate together for a project.
When I was in Elementary school, we did use computers but never in the way that students can now. We had typing lessons and educational games that did not work half the time and weren't very beneficial for our learning. Assignments never had to be turned in through the internet and everything was done with pencil and paper.
People in the working world have to use technology for many different jobs. I can see how this can become difficult because technology is advancing now but 20 years ago was not needed as much. Children need to be taught how to use the technology for later job opportunities. At the end of the first video when the older man opened up the files on his computer was symbolizing that the children today are going to be the next workers and creators of tomorrow.

Kaylin VanderMeer
What I found interesting in both videos was access ability of Microsoft 365 in all different devices at many different times. I also found it interesting that many people can work together with out having to be together. I found that really amazing for the teachers of today that they can assign more and more group projects because it will be easier for kids to work in a group together.
When I was growing up we never did assignments on the computer till high school. Everything was on paper with a group of people in person making it harder for teachers to assign group projects. The only time we did assignments on the computer was in computer class and the teacher gave us time in class to finish them since not everyone had a computer at home. In high school we started to do a lot more assignments on the computer but more individualized home work assignments rather than group projects.
I think that these videos remind me how people can now communicate around the world with each other and work on the same document and share ideas thousands of miles away. Things today are based more on technology because it is always access able and easier than ever to use.

I find it to be interesting because the way of technology has changed drastically. It’s more accepted to have a phone, tablet, and computer out in classrooms and meetings to take notes and sometimes even draw pictures to get a better understanding of certain things. I know when I took chemistry it was very important to me to bring my tablet to class and draw pictures of information on slides so when I go home I have pictures to go back too. Pictures that aren’t just black and blue. It somehow makes me learn better and understand certain concepts and topics. Things now make you able to express yourself more with projects. You’re able to customize anything and everything. The second video reminds me of how much people in the working world connect using a document as if they were sitting right next to one another. It makes collaboration a lot easier rather than having to send emails or talk on the phone.

I loved how the first video showed so many varieties of technology use in a classroom. The ways for students to incorporate technology into projects and assignments truly seems to be endless. Just from watching the first video, it was completely different from how I was taught in school. The use of technology I was exposed to in school was simply word processing and powerpoints, but seeing all of the available resources for students now, blows my mind and encourages me for bringing technology in to my future classroom.
The second video reminded me a lot of Google Docs and how, because it's cloud based, multiple people can be inputting information and offering support at the same time. This is a great way for students to be able to work together on projects without necessarily having to meet as a group in person. Both of these videos showed me how people are learning in today's working world because there are ways to use technology for just about every learning style, as well as ways that allow for collaboration, which seems to be increasing in popularity.
