I am wanting to become a special education teacher for moderate/ severe students. I am currently aid in a special education classroom and have experience working with some amazing kids. I remember one of my first days on the job a student fell to the ground (not hard by any means, just tripped and stumbled). My initial instinct was to go over and help the child who fell, but the teacher stopped me. She told me this exact quote and explained to me that this specific population of students can do a lot more for themselves than society had led on. This being said I chose this quote for my classroom to remind everyone (students, aides, guests, and even myself) that even though a child may be struggling, it doesn't make it impossible for them to complete tasks independently. We are there to support children in continuing their own progress. If they ask for help lending a hand is always encouraged, but I believe all students have the ability to at least try harder tasks on their own, then ask for assistance. Even if it isn’t easy it doesn't make it impossible.

I find this quote inspiring because I believe it encourages individuals to be their true authentic self. Others may treat life like a competition, a race, or the desire for "perfection". It's important to remember that each individual is unique and no one's life story or experiences will be identical, so it's important to remember to live life for you. This is also important for students who may feel incompetent next to the student who always finishes their tests first. This quote can also be referred to throughout the semester to remind yourself to show up authentically.

This quote is inspiring to me because I believe that all too often the thought of giving up and choosing the easy path in life can be extremely tempting. When times get difficult and obstacles arise before us the thought of giving up will inevitably be an option. Yet if you choose that option you'll never be able to achieve your goals or better yourself. In order to succeed we must push on when things get difficult, because you never know what you're capable of until you do it. This quote inspires me to never quit, because the act of quitting ensures you'll never succeed. In order to progress in one's life we must always keep trying and working towards our personal success. I can share this quote with my students in my class by hanging a poster on the wall or having it displayed everyday somehow. That way everyday my students enter the class they'll be reminded that no matter how hard things may seem in the moment it's important that they always continue trying. It will hopefully inspire them to invest in their personal success and always chase their dreams.

From past experiences, this quote tends to make people scratch their heads. I think it's catchy, and it puts the common "it's okay to make mistakes" in a whole new light. Imperfections or mistakes can bring a new creation, or a new lesson can come out of it. This quote can be used through the year, especially in art. No artwork is "perfect", and every imperfection that comes from your work makes something new or unique.

I am a very anxious person and overthinking is something that has affected me in different ways. I really struggle with making a task seem bigger than it is because I think of every detail. I need to breathe and visualize what my goal is. I need to have more faith in myself that I have the knowledge and utensil to be able to reach those goals. I need to stop doubting myself and believe that I got this!

Personally, I feel like this is extremely important to think about and something important to teach to children and more. The reason I have picked this quote is because I feel like in today's society even for younger children, we are taught to be hard on ourselves because if you keep pushing yourself you should do better, right? I feel like this is terrible to teach to children or people of any age. I think this is why in today's society as well as in past generations, "burning out" has become so common which makes the world be filled with toxic kindness as well as positivity. This quote resonates to me because when I was a preschool teacher for a year or so, I remember having to explain to students to always be kind to yourself because kindness spreads as soon as you are kind to yourself. The reason I believe this is because how are you going to be kind to the world and others in it when you can't be kind to one of the most important parts in it, yourself!
Kindness starts with yourself! Never forget that.

These are lyrics from a song that I grew up listening to time and time again, but I have never fully understood the meaning behind them until now. To me this is saying to live life to the fullest, or live a life you will be proud of in the end. We should not keep telling ourselves that someday we will get the help we need, or someday we will apply for that job we have always wanted. Now is the time to get out there and not wait for the greatness to happen, but make it happen. This is a great message to share with students because it teaches them to reach for the stars and be the best version of themselves they could be. It encourages them to get involved in school, work hard in their classes, and to go for their goals.

I think this quote is very important to remember, especially because as children are in the classroom it is very important to motivate them as well as their future desires. We should teach them to pursue their wishes and create an environment in where they feel as if they can do so. Aimless work makes the process of learning a bit harder for some, but finding that goal makes the time you put into your work can feel more rewarding.

I would want to have this quote in my classroom because I think it might be encouraging to someone. A reminder that not everything might come quickly or be considered easy to understand. For me in middle school the mentality was always to learn what we could and to get good grades. No one encouraged us to try to learn beyond what was necessary or to keep trying in a subject that was difficult for us. The mentality most of the time was you "get it" or you don't. I want to remind my students that there might be times in the classroom where obstacles appear but to not be afraid of them. Instead to want to face them in hopes to gain more by overcoming them.

My quote that will hang on my wall is “Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.”as said by Oscar Wilde.

The reason this quote stood out to me above all others is because I spent more time during my formative years, more than I even think I am conscious of, wishing I was different. Wishing I had straighter and longer hair, wishing I was skinnier, wishing I had colored eyes, and I could go on and on. Mainstream media didn’t have too many people that look like me. I had trouble finding myself as a mixed little black girl in the middle of a huge city and everyone around me was different than me. Growing up in the early 00’s where the biggest trends for girls were crop tops, low rise jeans and thigh gaps, it was difficult for me to accept myself. I now wish I took more time to love every inch of myself because self love is the most powerful of all.

I am just who I am supposed to be. I love every freckle on my face and every pound on my bones.

In an ideal world, every child would know that everything about them is what makes them unique. I would like to let my children know that it is okay, even amazing actually, that they may be different. I would express an understanding because I also know what it's like to struggle with loving yourself, but it’s the only body we have so the quicker we learn self love, the faster we can start enjoying everything that life has to offer our beautiful selves.

We have to keep moving forwards no matter what. I can share this with student in my class by showing them there are other ways to move forwards wether it’s running, jumping, crawling etc we will find a way to keep going and not give up. It can be applied to their personal life or if their having a hard time in class. I believe it could be used throughout the semester as well as life because we always encounter problems where we might need to change the plan and find another solutions to keep going. Don’t give up!

"If you do the work you get rewarded. There are no shortcuts in life."
- Micheal Jordan.
Personally, I believe that if anyone wants to achieve something they need to be committed and work for it. This quote will teach myself and my students that without work it's impossible to achieve anything. I'm a person that enjoys working throughout any challenge life throws at me. I want my students to enjoy they're academic journey. I will encourage my students that I will be there for any help they may need to accomplish there educational goals. Lastly, this goal can be used during this semester.

As a person who overthinks a lot, I always think about my past and what I could've done to be better. Now that I have grown up, I realized that everything I went through made me who I am today and I should keep moving forward. The situations that I was put in was for me to learn from.
This is a quote that I would put up in my classroom to tell my students that even though they messed up yesterday, they can learn from that and do better today.

Walt Disney, an innovator who believed nothing was impossible, he pioneered many technological advances in sound, color, and storytelling. I personally want to be a kindergarten teacher and believe this quote represents just that because of how the brain functions at that age. Imagination is hard to hold onto as an adult, we should aspire to all live a little bit more like the children in our classrooms, using mostly imagination and dreaming bigger than ever. This quote is encouragement to do just that, not only for the student and the teacher, but for families as well. It is important to me for the families to know their child is being heard in my classroom. Their thoughts and ideas are very important and always worthy of being heard.

I chose this quote because I feel like a lot of children feel so amazing when they win at something and so horrible when they lose, so I hope this reminds them that life goes up and down and so you should just be courageous through it all.

I truly believe that everything we do makes a difference. Whether it be as simple as a smile or as big as a needed hug, we have in our ability to make someone feel special every day. That’s what I hope to achieve and inspire in my classroom. Treat others as we would like to be treated. Spread positivity! 😊
