But, her father survived until the camps were liberated. After they were captured from the secret annex the family's friend took Anne's diary. When Otto arrived home he got the diary and the terrible news that his wife and children were dead. After, reading the diary he decided to publish it. The book became a best seller. People all over the world can read her diary and feel what she experienced. Anne's dream of becoming an author came true but she never got to see it.
