I believe that this title fits the book perfectly because it describes the relationship between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth.  “She is tolerable; but not handsome enough to tempt me” (page 9). This quote shows how snobby Mr. Darcy is and how highly he thinks of himself, as being better than others. “And I could easily forgive his pride, if he had not mortified mine” (page 16). His pride scares Elizabeth away causing her to dislike him. Although pride only affects how Mr. Darcy is seen as a person. Prejudice affects the way they show their interests to each other. Prejudice is forming an opinion before becoming aware of relevant facts. Mr. Darcy notices early on that he was wrong about Elizabeth and that her beauty is indeed profound. “But no sooner has he made it clear to himself and his friends that she has hardly a good feature in her face, then he began to dins it was rendered uncommonly intelligent by the beautiful expression in her dark eyes...he was forced to acknowledge her figure to be light and pleasing” (page 19). This quote proves that Mr. Darcy’s perception about Elizabeth is changing, however, “to her he was only the man who made himself agreeable nowhere, and who had not thought her handsome enough to dance with” (page 19). This quotes shows that Elizabeth still finds him cold and cannot seem to get over his pride. I think the author chose this title because it best fits the conflict that both characters must overcome, their pride and prejudice against each other.

This quote is significant in the book because it shows how Mr. Darcy overcame his pride and has fallen in love with Elizabeth.
