We started the acts of kindness with a glimpse at the Pinocchio Day Center in my city. Here come the underprivileged children to take lunch and to do their homework after school. P3 and P3/2 organised a coffee morning to raise funds for Macmillan. Lots of people came along and had a good morning drinking coffee and eating delicious cakes. WE managed to raise over £290 to help people who are not well. We felt very proud of ourselves as we know we have helped other people.

Our club joind forces with the "Nature and Environment Club" and, for the occasion of The Animals Protection Day, created the "We love animals" campaign, involving the whole school community K-8. On Thursday 30/01/2020. the finale of the project THE OLD SKILL FOR THE FUTURE OF THE PLANET of 3rd grade students of elementary school Bedekovčina was held.

The aim of the project was to learn about plastic bags and to investigate the causes of their harmful effects on the environment, to learn the old knitting skills of baskets that can replace plastic bags, which are part of the tradition of our homeland. The project lasted from September 2019 to the end of January 2020. In learning about the great dangers to our environment, the students drew attention to the risk of overuse of plastic bags that take a long time to decompose. As a solution to their problem, they found that they needed to learn the old knitting skill of a basket and replace it with plastic bags. Baskets are a natural product and part of the tradition of our homeland. During the realization of the project, the students carried out a series of activities that linked all the subjects in the classroom. The school also had a workshop where students, together with their parents, could learn how to knit old Zagorje baskets. They presented everything they learned about plastic bags with a presentation, and with their acting and dancing they evoked a home state. In the class there was an exhibition of children's art and literary works, as well as old Zagorje embroidery and objects. There were also recycled bags made by students, and through pictures and text, they were again able to become aware of the dangers of overusing plastic bags.

We took part in "Bottle tops with Soul" Project. This campaign gives a new meaning to bottle tops. We mobilised the children to gather plastic covers, that they had brought to the kindergarten and then we sent them forward to a community which deals with different important causes for our community.
Only covers are gathered because the volum/ weight report and volume/price report are very good and they can be easily stocked and transported to other types of recycled materials.

During "Different but Still Togheter!", we collaborated with children from Inclusive Educational Center and we had different activities in order to integrate them in our group activities making them feel that they were like us. The children were very happy to make new friends.

We are continuing to care for the planters at our local train station. We visit every fortnight to ensure that our local commuters can see flowers and plants on their journeys.

Collecting acorns for animals in Līgatne Nature Trails

Our students took part in a campaign "Let's collect the acorns for animals!". They went to the nearest oak trees near the school and did it. The collected acorns were taken to the closest park in Gauja National Park - Līgatne Nature Trails where some wild animals were happy to get them for their lunch!
