I wouldn't feel comfortable doing this personally. But I've never been in this situation. I would try to make it clear that they aren't a burden.

Death is part of the human experience. Unfortunately, unless you decide to end your life, you won't have control over that process. That is how it's supposed to be. We don't know if our bodies will miraculously recover. We just simply cannot know. We don't get to control when we are born, and we don't get to control when we die.
