<title>George Wallace was the governor of Alabama. He was one of the leading opponents of the Civil Rights Movement. Between the years of 1964-1976, he ran for POTUS four times (three as a Democrat and once as Independent). George Wallace was known for his action in blocking the entrance of two black students, Vivian Malone and James Hood, at the University of Alabama. </title>

<title>Disgust: “The Washington D.C. school riot report is disgusting and revealing.”	By using words with negative connotations (disgusting/revealing), George Wallace is trying to prove that the civil rights movements aren&#39;t what they seem to be, and that staying away from black Americans, and siding with White citizens is the safer option for the good of the country. Furthermore, Wallace is making an attempt at portraying that such “riots” will eventually lead to America’s downfall. </title>

<title>Hopeful and Dreaming: “The true brotherhood of America, of respecting the separateness of others… and uniting in effort… has been so twisted and distorted from its original concept that there is a small wonder that communism is winning the world.” George Wallace is arguing the fact that the ideas of unity and respect has been twisted into a new idea, that does not follow that of the founding fathers. Additionally, Wallace believes that the idea of “equality for everybody” is eventually going to result in a country similar to the Soviet Union.</title>

Rather, the country should be divided (segregated) from each other; it will be for the good of the country. </title>

<title>In George Wallace’s speech ,”Segregation Today, Segregation Forever” (1963), George Wallace believes that keeping the South segregated will result with the United States in peace. George Wallace supports his belief by employing repetition and allusion in order to connect with like-minded people who believe that segregation is better for the people. Wallace intends on motivating the Southerners, who possess the same mindset, that segregation is the best means to avoid issues, conflict, and tension within America. George Wallace uses a critical and direct tone with white students (like-minded as him), along with in order to evoke a sense of patriotism amongst audience members.</title>
