The story begins when Mulan is at a Chinese village living her normal life. Mulan's mom tries to get her a matchmaker. She is seen by her mom as not really a person, more like an object to find a husband.

#2 The Call

Mulans dad gets called to fight in the war. Mulan sees her dad struggling to fight because of old age and his injuries in the past. Mulan thinks that her dad should not fight in the war. So she believes that she should fight in the war in the place of her father.

#3 Assistance

Mulan is partnered by Mushu the dragon, and Cri-kee the cricket, they help Mulan on her journey. Mushu helps her gain confidence as she impersonates a soilder. She is also partnered by General Li Shang, he helps Mulan by helping her fight.

#4 Departure

Mulan leaves to go to training camp. She feels the need to fight for her dad because she doesn't want her dad to fight and possibly get killed or injure himself. Mulan and her horse are on their way to training camp.

#5 Trials

At the training camp, Mulan is struggling to keep up with the other warriors. Likely because she is a girl and has no fighting experience. Mushu helps Mulan cheat and pass the tests, but she is often caught by Li Shang.

#6 Approach

Mulan approaches her old home, and finds that everything is destroyed, because of war. This affects her because she thinks her whole family and village is dead. This motivates her into stopping Shan-Yu and his Hun army.

#7 Crisis

Mulan encounters and finally fights Shan Yu, and his whole army. This is the climax of the story and the main fight. Mulan wins by creating an avalanche. We find out later though that most of them are still alive.

#8 Treasure

Mulan was rewarded a medal from the emperor and the sword of Shan-yu, given to her by the emperor, serving as her elixir. After she returns home and gives her treasure to her father. She also gains her family's respect, she figures out that she is valued and seen as an equal.

#10 resolution

The resolution is Mulan returning a hero to her family, hoping that they will accept her. only to find that her family is grateful. for who she is and happy to have her back safely. Also Mushu is finally considered a guardian.

#9 New Life

Mulan goes back to her village as a normal citizen. When Mulan gets back home she is reunited with her family and respected by her father. Mulan reveals her identity as a girl rather than staying a man.
