Peta exposed the fur farms that capture the animals that are forced to live in dirty wired cages, cramped and are tortured in the cruelest ways. You can still be cool and warm wearing faux fur that helps save the animals and stand up for animal cruelty.

To us this photo speaks loudly. What we take from this PETA advertisement, is looking at the bigger picture and understanding what the impact of the advertisement is as well as the meaning behind the cause. So, by the campaign portraying P!NK as saying she would “rather go naked than wear fur” is, in our opinion, saying exactly what the ad says. The rock star would, rather than wearing fur she would be naked. We feel that this is symbolizing how the animals that are used to make fur clothing are treated and end up being. This campaign is very cleaver, as well as empowering. Using a huge celebrity like P!NK pulls in a lot of attention from society, then gets people to stop and ponder on what the message is and what it means. As well as having a celebrity that big backing up what the message is and the organizations goals for ending animal cruelty.

In conclusion, the fur campaign Peta created has inspired generations in the advocacy of animal cruelty. The truth that Peta uncovered is alarming to know that human kind can do this to animals by taking away their freedom and force them to be mutilated for the greed of humans. Peta promotes awareness through advertisement, and even bringing it out to the public through theatrics. Peta has exposed popularly wealthy companies over three decades for their horrid animal treatments (e.g. Canada Goose) and will continue to use controversial tactics to shake up society until they take action.

As the Go-Go Dolls are very famous, them using their fame to bring attention to a movement they believe in such as PETA is in our opinion using their fame for good. By them endorsing the ad it brings in attention from their fans, other public figures, and members from society. We think that the idea of them empowering others to join and listen is great and that others should join and use their influence on society for the better, such as the PETA campaign.

This ad draws in the attention of whomever is looking at it by the graphic image. It can create an unsettling feeling. Although, it will make the viewer ponder, if looking at the rabbit after It has been skinned, is bloody, and deceased, why is it seen to be right to use their fur as a fashion statement? Why do you suddenly feel disgusted by the gruesome photograph, although you continue to wear that fur coat? Just by looking for a few minutes, could change a person’s mind or take on animal cruelty, on the other hand it could not and the passer byer could continue to browse the internet, or continue the walk up the street. At the end of the day the ad caught their attention and got the message across with little to no words, and to us that speaks great volume.

Ingrid Newkirk is the founder of PETA, along with Alex Pacheco, a fellow animal rights activist. They began the organization in March 1980 although in 1981 is when they first got any attention from the public, during the time when Alex Pacheco was in the media for the Silver Spring monkeys, as he took pictures of 17 macaque monkeys being experimented on from the Institute of Behavioral Research located in Silver Spring, Maryland. By him doing this, it sparked the first police raid and first actual movement towards animal cruelty seen in the public eye. Since, PETA has continued to grow and spread awareness.
