In English class today I got into the persona of Othello. This allowed me to act out the play and get inside Othello's head, without the prurient thoughts of Desdemona that Othello usually has. In the book today Othello had a systemic seizure, rendering his whole body immobile and shaking the entire time as a result of the realization that his beloved Desdemona might be cheating on him. This is a big vicissitude in Othello's character from being a virtuous, strong leader at the beginning of the play, to now showing his insecurities through his mistrust of Desdemona. But what can you expect from a play with the genre of a tragedy.

Though it was diaphanous and I could still see the world outside, it was out of my reach. I struggled to break through but it was impossible so I sunk to the floor in defeat. This new vicissitude was terrifying and I didn't know how I was going to escape or if I ever would step foot outside again. Countless days passed and time became something of fiction that I could no longer understand. I had adopted a whole new persona and felt like a character in a movie rather than myself. This was true up until the day I was free and realized only second had passed since I set foot in the bubble and this shattered my reality.

I sat there, staring blankly at the symbols on the wall. It felt like I had been there for days staring at this unsolvable puzzle, when I knew that it had only been a few minutes. I was an aficionado for solving the world's most challenging puzzles, but this, this was way out of my league. "What even is the genre of this stupid puzzle" I thought in my head. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before. The symbols on the matrix around me looked otherworldly and disorganized. They looked as though they weren't meant to be there. Haphazardly thrown around, they made no sense. When I saw this job on the news, I thought it would be perfect for me but this is insane. I was tempted to do it in the first place because of the incredibly high emolument for the job. I understand why it was so high now. I walked towards the exit to ask the people in charge if they had any information for me, anything was better than nothing at this point. I placed my hand on the doorknob and tried to turn it but it was locked. I panicked and tried to force my way out of the door, but nothing was working. I thought this would be a quick foray, I could try it out and leave after a few minutes but, I was stuck. Suddenly, the dim lights in the room started to flash and a voice came over the loudspeaker. I had no idea what it was saying, it didn't sound like English or any other language I've ever heard. I turned away from the door and looked back at the symbols. They started to change color and spin around the room, somehow. The violent motion of the symbols made the room feel like it was moving. I couldn't focus and was incredibly dizzy. I turned towards the door as a last hope. It was still closed. The door was the last thing I saw before everything went dark.

Whether it is over simple issues such as who you voted for, to deep discussions of possible systemic racism, many people on both ends of the political spectrum are way too tendentious in their views. While many of these people believe themselves to be aficionados on every major event in the world, most of the time they end up having to browbeat their opponents to feel powerful or that they have won. Hopefully this year my friends and I can play with confidence in our abilities and be so good that we Browbeat the other teams and if the other team tries to hurt anyone on our team or they are too rough I will deliver a bold philippic at them and then crush them the next time they get the ball. I will do all of this because this lowcountry team and my boys on the team are sacrosanct to me.
