It was awesome to meet mentees at our home school on Monday first before doing the district day on Tuesday!

I understand that some buildings share tech people, however, if we are going to have new staff at their home buildings on the first day, there should be a tech person at all buildings for at least part of the day on the first institute day. Our building had so many tech tickets that we put in due to not being able to log into the new staff laptops and what not that it just makes it slow down the process. If someone is there to help fix these problems, at some point in the day it could make it easier. Also when we emailed our tech person for the district, we were told he would get to it tomorrow

, however with the way the schedule was the new hires were not in the building and neither were their laptops. So they had to take time out of their next day to solve the problems.

It was great meeting all of the new hires. I am looking forward to content coaching and collaborating with all of them.

It was great to be involved with the content instruction on Wednesday! Coachellas found it very helpful, and I was able to check-in with them to provide tangible and applicable feedback. It was nice to put names to faces and then recognize my coachellas the next day.

Strengths:

I agree...being able to meet and talk with the mentees on Monday made Tuesday so much easier, for them and for us!

I love the dashboard and the slides to use are amazing! Thank you for that.

Areas to think about for next year:

Not being familiar with the high schools made navigating on Tuesday a little difficult. The way those common areas are numbered was a bit confusing, a map or heads up would have been helpful.

The schedule was so tight. Most sessions ran the full amount of time and there wasn't any "passing" time or bathroom time. My mentees were worried about being late or leaving a session to use the bathroom.

I really appreciated the opportunity to connect with my coachellas during induction. One suggestion for next year would be to list "meeting the coaches" on the agenda for 8:00 (with specified location), and have the first content session begin at 8:15 or 8:30. This would give us a clear meeting time and point and help ensure that we can connect before the session begins. This would be especially helpful for those of us who work with multiple grade levels (sped, EL, dual...).

I loved sitting in on some sessions with my coachellas to hear what they were learning. They learned a lot of useful information. I loved how you organized it this year. Thank you for the Tshirts and name badges. Bravo to the committee and to Paula for putting all of this together. I know my teachers enjoyed the time that we had together, so they could ask a lot of questions.

I greatly appreciated the key note speaker and his insights not only to coachellas but students as well. This year is well-organized and is going much smoother. Love the dashboard! However, could we pin the dashboard and timecard to the shared documents? That would be incredibly helpful! I am feeling very supported as I help the coachellas!
