I am an eclectic group of southern and western European countries. My father's side of the family can actually be traced back to Geneva France (which is about 5 min from the border of Switzerland). My ancestors used to live in a chateau that was later purchased by the famous philosopher Voltaire. The chateau is now known as the "Ferney-Voltaire" chateau and is included in a small quaint town that is known to many tourists nowadays. I did not have much say in the matter but my entire family moved out there to help a church. When we moved there it took some time to adjust to the new culture, the fact that we were so far away from family and generally in a new place. Tucson is about 30 from the border of Mexico and the crime rate was extremely high. Many people would bring drugs over the border in order to make a living for themselves but it had a detrimental effect on the crime rate. I came from good old Lancaster County and was not used to the fact that I had to keep an eye out all the time. My life was changed and my eyes were opened. Not only because I had to keep them open for street smart purposes but as well as being in a new culture and experiencing incredible new foods and wonderful people. On my journey out there with my family we learned so many things that turned us away to the way the church is run nowadays. There were so many factors that pushed us away from the church. We in a way felt stranded in a desert because that was the whole reason we moved out there but we somehow all came together and grew stronger in our faith even with leaving the church. Many have the idea if you are 21 that you must spend your nights out at the bars and clubs. Although this may be true for some it is not so true for me. I run track and field here at Millersville and this type of lifestyle is not acceptable among my team and coaches. Many adults and some young adults that I encounter make it an expectation. Even health insurance, car insurance, even credit card loans and student loans have a higher percentage of interest due to my age. Even loans need to be cosigned because many think that we are unreliable and may not be able to pay bills on that loan. This may be true for some people as it is true for many adults. This makes getting through college very difficult because my family does not cosign loans and I have to pay my own bills. It doesn't make sense why everything is more expensive for the poor college student. Also, it makes paying for college difficult because I do not have a loan due to the fact that I need a cosigner. I was raised this way and it stuck. Over the years I have developed my own twist on faith and what I believe. As I had described in my region/geography portion moving to Arizona was a turning point in my religion.
