The Alberta Council for Environmental Education put on two sessions providing K-6 teachers with hands-on, curriculum connected, authentic learning experiences that can be done outdoors or indoors with items from nature. I've included a link to their resource hub - hundreds of resources from lessons to field trips. All are searchable by grade and subject.

I am getting an email from the presenter with all the activities we did, book list and other resources that I will share here.

Daniel is a member of the Abénakis First Nation and is an amazing storyteller. He told us the story of creation that his grandmother taught him, shared teachings about the 7 directions and had an overall message of respect. He also taught the participants some sign language from his culture. Video attached of Daniel talking about how he works with students.

Fun Fact: One of his jobs is as the town crier of Ottawa. I've posted a couple of videos if you want to learn a bit more.

I spent 2 sessions with an amazing artist and completed 4 projects: zen tangles animal art on water colour, water colour flowers, a symmetrical piece and an impressionist painting using modeling paste instead of all paint. Big takeaways: have students write about their art and when displaying art, include the learning outcomes.

She is sharing a slideshow for each project that teachers can use. I will post here when I receive it.

Impressionist paintings slideshow: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1WrVCQc_EjMi0qKeFuITXLTi0_ZB3qzLYZnTRWlme6Wc/edit?usp=sharing
