Divide the class into small groups. Each group will receive a set of “stepping stones,” which can be poly spots, foam stepping stones, or chalk marks arranged in a path. Each stepping stone will have a number written on it. One student from each group will be designated as the Master Coder. This student will secretly choose a code made up of a specific sequence of numbers (e.g., 3-6-9), representing the correct steps across the stones.

The rest of the team will take turns attempting to solve the code by stepping on the numbered stones. After each attempt, the Master Coder will respond with “Yes” if the step is correct or “No” if it is incorrect. Teams must use communication, memory, and strategy to figure out the correct code as quickly as possible. This activity promotes problem-solving, teamwork, and physical movement in a fun and engaging way.
