In the United States, some people want power as much as the Monkey King does, and some are as stubborn as he is. I'm sure that in other cultures there are people like this, but I think that there are probably less. Some qualitys that they share are their stubborness, and leadership ability. Also, they work really hard to obtain what they desire. Here in america, I think that some of the things we like to see in people is the determination and leadership.

I was thinking about it, and I personally think that Hal is good fit for comparing to The Monkey King. At the beginning Hal was okay with who he was, he was a bit awkward but was there to help Roxanne. Just like The Monkey King is there to help his subjects. But once Hal had gotten a taste of power, he changed who he was. He changed his name to Titan, and got all confident that he could do anything and everything, hurting people who thought differently than him. I found that to be very similar to The Monkey King changing who he was after the dinner party, going around to the people who didn't see him as a god/deity and attacking them til they agreed with him.

Simba being scared and faced with all the bad craziest odds runs away ignoring hes the next ruler of his kingdom.

I would compare the Monkey King to Titan(Hal Stewart) from the movie Megamind. In the beginning, Hal is, in a way, rejected by Roxan because he is just the camera man. The Monkey King is rejected from the heavenly dinner because he is a monkey. After both being rejected they gained power. But, as they gained power they also became selfish and cocky. They became destructive and, for that, they were brought back down to there lowly state. The difference between the two is that Titan used his powers with the urge to get the girl, meanwhile the Monkey King uses it to hurt all those who doubted him. Soon enough, though, they are both defeated in a small battle type situation and their powers are revoked.

As soon as monkey king leaves his home he realizes that there are other "kings / Gods" who don't appreciate him and think that he doesn't fit and is different because he is a monkey.
