I really like the "Stoplight" paragraph strategy, but I think it would be much more beneficial to younger students who are just beginning to learn how to write. I would have to figure out a way to enhance this strategy and make it more advanced for a high school classroom, but I like the ideas behind it! - Lindsey Williams

I still remember using the stoplight example to learn writing structure in elementary school and can definitely see myself using this model in my own classroom to help young writers strengthen their abilities. -Carolyn Becker

Students with prior writing knowledge may benefit from a this strategy by increasing their ability to organize and support their writing with details. The stoplight strategy would be my choice of incorporation within my class. I can see how breaking down the steps of writing would be beneficial for students, increase their understanding, and improve writing outcomes.

As someone hoping to teach in a high school setting, I can definitely see myself using Step Up to Writing strategies as a means of building upon students' prior knowledge of the writing process. As mentioned in the webpage, graphic organizers can be helpful in organization of thought. I think that I will implement the use of graphic organizers to help students plan and outline papers.

I personally love Step Up to Writing strategies. I have not used the stoplight strategy in my room however I do use double-sided notes, breaking down definitions and the IVF strategy and I find them all very effective!
