1. He developed the model around 1909

2. He fired positively charged alpha rays at a gold foil. He expected all the rays to deflect as according to JJ Thompson an atom was mainly protons with electron in between them an no empty space. However, most of the alpha rays went through the foil and a few got deflected. This proved that an atom was made up of mainly empty space with a positively charged centre. The centre had to be positively charger as they repelled the positively charged alpha rays

3. The new model fit the new data/ observations as now there was a reason as to why most of the alpha rays went through the gold foil and why few of them got delfected.

Around what date was this model developed?

The Bohr model, which was created in 1913, was based on Ernest Rutherford's nuclear model. The idea that the nucleus contains tiny particles known as protons emerged after additional investigations. A modest amount of positive charge exists in each proton.

2.What new evidence, observation or experiment made them question the previous model?

Atomic spectra were used as evidence to support Bohr's theory. He proposed that moving electrons create an atomic spectrum in an atom. James Chadwick discovered evidence of particles with mass but no charge existing in the nucleus in 1932. The name of these particles is neutrons. The atomic model was further developed as a result, and it is still in use today.

3. In which way does the new model fit the observed data?

Bohr believed that electrons travelled in circular routes around the nucleus, while current theory suggests that the structure of atomic electrons is more akin to 3D standing waves. Bohr improved on Rutherford's atomic model.
