This celebration invites alumnae, residents, friends, donors, partners, and community members to reflect on our shared legacy, celebrate the good being done today, and renew our commitment to building a hopeful and inclusive tomorrow.

Notre Dame Academy Alumnae are invited to join us for a special Alumnae Reunion and Mass. We are honored that the Archbishop has agreed to celebrate Mass and attend the reception following the liturgy.

The celebration continues with a Pancake Breakfast for all Notre Dame Housing residents and an afternoon Open House welcoming guests to experience the history, legacy, and ongoing mission of Notre Dame Housing.

From giving some youth retreats there, assisting with daily Eucharistic celebrations, special occasion Eucharists, some Holy Week Liturgies, and celebrations of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, it provided many opportunities to get to know the Sisters of Notre Dame and their great hospitality.  I greatly enjoyed having supper with the Sisters following the late afternoon Liturgies.  They trained me in the spiritual outlook of "Doing the Most Good."  In that spirit, St. Victricious (back in the fourth century) wrote that we should do all that we can do, even if we couldn't do everything that we wanted to do." 

I think the visionary and heroic Notre Dame Sisters who travelled from Europe to Omaha did exactly that by their efforts to serve immigrants, educate youth, and then go on to develop ever new ways to respond to the needs of God's people, especially following the Second Vatican Council.  They continue to do all that they can do, as they have for the past 100 years.  

I would add: "Don't try to do the impossible, since the doing the possible will fill our ministerial callings with grace and peace, in service to the love of Christ made present by our shared baptismal priesthood and vows.

Each of the Notre Dame Sisters that I have come to know shared unique perspectives on how to know, love, and serve God.

A most blessed 100^th anniversary celebration!
