         <title>Performance Assessment - Male</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A performance assessment is an approach to educational assessment that requires students to directly demonstrate what they know and are able to do through open-ended tasks such as constructing an answer, producing a project, or performing an activity. It helps us see what the student knows and how it can be use in a practical way instead of answering questions in a paper. <br><br>There are three types of performance-based assessment from which to choose: <strong>products, performances, or process-oriented assessments</strong> (McTighe &amp; Ferrara, 1998)<br><br>Using a rubric we can measure what the student knows, a few examples of a perfomance assessment could be:<br>- Oral presentations<br>- Booklet/scrapbook<br>- Role playing<br>- Exposition <br>- Experiment with prototypes<br>- Create a story or book about a topic<br>- Do something in the community (for example, recycle bins)<br>- Poems or essays<br>- Debates or Socratic seminars<br>- Create data graphs<br>- Create a movie/shortfilm, podcast or a painting<br>- Create social media account with posts about an specific topic.<br><br>Resources: <em>Using performance assessments to support student learning</em>.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Formative Assessments <br></strong>Formative assessments are evaluations that are used to determine the progression of the student. It is a check-in. <br>- They offer immediate results. <br>- Teachers can gain insight on learning status. <br>- Helps teacher identify content retention and understanding. <br>- Used to improve learning. <br>- Very quick and short in nature. <br>- Can be given daily or weekly. <br><strong>Formative Assessment Examples <br></strong>1. Venn Diagrams <strong><br><br>Summative Assessments </strong><br>Summative assessments measures student mastery of content at the end of the unit, chapter, or year. These assessments document how much information the student has learned over a longer period of time.&nbsp;<br>- Review and or preparation of material is vital for student success.&nbsp;<br>- Used as a way to hole teachers, students, and schools accountable.&nbsp;<br>- Plays a major role in the outcome of the student's overall grade.&nbsp;<br>- Evaluates understanding and mastery of content.&nbsp;<br><strong>Examples of Summative assessments</strong><br>1.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Assessment For Learning</strong> is sometimes referred to as formative assessment, and involves the use of evidence of students’ understanding and skills to clarify student learning.<br><br><strong>Assessment for learning:</strong><br><br>- Provides effective feedback that motivates the learner<br>- Is driven by assessment that helps students learn better, not just achieve a higher mark<br>- Encourages self-assessment and peer assessment<br>- Involves formal and informal assessment practices to inform the planning of future learning<br><br>Examples of <strong>assessment for learning:<br></strong>- Exit tickets<br>- Class discussions<br>- Mid-unit quizzes<br>- Outlines and organizers<br><br><strong>Assessment as Learning</strong> occurs when students are assessors and monitors of their own learning in order to decide what they know and what they can do.</div><div><br></div><div>With <strong>assessment as learning:</strong></div><div><br></div><div>- Students ask questions about their learning</div><div>- Students are responsible for their own learning</div><div>- Teachers help students create learning goals to encourage growth</div><div>- Students use feedback and self-assessment to help students understand the next steps in their learning</div><div>- Students reflect on their learning growth and ways to use assessment information for new learning<br><br>Examples of <strong>Assessment as Learning:</strong><br>- Student self-assessment of formative and summative work<br>- Peer feedback<br>- Pre-unit goal-setting and post-unit reflections<br><br><strong>Assessment of Learning </strong>is sometimes referred to as summative assessment, and helps teachers use evidence of student learning to assess achievement against learning standards. This is usually at the end of a unit, term, or semester and may be used to grade students.          <title>Diagnostic Assesment</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A Diagnostic Assessment is tool that aids in finding what a learner needs. A way to tailor and craft learning based on previous knowledge the student may understand/know.<br><br>There are various types of Diagnostic Assessments:</div><ul><li><strong>Screener:</strong> Show which student have low scores compared to benchmarks. The benchmark are use is what students did last year on our campus, statewide, national wide data.</li><li><strong>Classroom Observation:</strong> An observation of students classroom conduct, mindset, effort.</li><li><strong>Qualitative Data:</strong> Information gathered from classroom assignments.&nbsp;</li><li><strong>Diagnostic Test:</strong> In-depth skill assessment in a specific content area&nbsp;</li></ul><div><br>I'm going to focus on a <strong>Diagnostic Test.</strong> In my PE/Health Class we cover basic muscle, cardiovascular and skeletal groups and funtions. During the second week of school I give a general test, that is low risk with no grade assigned, to gather what basic knowledge student have about human anatomy and its general function. A 20 question mutli-choice/vocabulary/short answer/matching test with images to assist. The results gathered provide data that allow for the needed adjustments in my curriculum for the majority of my class but also helps to identify those that may need extra learning opportunities ie ESL and SpEd students. I'm able to add more information based on the data is certain areas that weak or to simply provide a review in area of strength.&nbsp; The test is given over Google Forms or Kahoot, depending on how I feel if I'm honest.<br><br>Some simpler Diagnostics assessment I use are:<br><br></div><ul><li><strong>Fist of five</strong>: Check for real time understanding using fingers (0-5 showing).</li><li><strong>Polls:</strong>&nbsp; I ask a question related to the topic and the students using school chrome books respond.
