The painting portrays a scene that came from the Holy Bible in which Jesus is teaching the children about eternal life. Harmony and balance are seen in the canvas through its form and elements. When you look at it closely, you get to see the contrasting colors and values which make us focus on Jesus. The angle of the unnatural lighting or the value that is Chiaroscuro creates attention to the viewers towards Christ and the children in which you get to understand the holiness of Christ. You will also notice the bright and dark values that create drama to the portrait drawn in the viewer to contemplate the certain doctrine of Faith.  The character of Jesus looking up creates a pull which makes us see the other parts of the painting, and it can also activate the viewer to participate in the painting by feeling close to what is happening to that scene. The naked child in the middle contrasts the other elements that have a dark color that creates another point of focus towards the other surroundings of the painting.  The background of the painting creates a certain meaning that people are coming towards Jesus who is in the foreground of the painting. There is a high tension seen in the painting because you get to see a lot of movement in the painting that makes us feel that we're part of the scene in the masterpiece. The faces of the people in the painting shows the emotion of the painting like the men talking to each other that are possibly the disciples that are wondering why Christ let the Children come close to him and the faces of other people in the back that is curious of what is possibly happening. The unity of the elements in the painting creates beauty and attention which makes us draw into the life of Christ.

It is a solid surface that is lacks depth and actual thickness because it is flat. A painting is considered to be beautiful when there is unity of the Elements. There is a sense of sight and hearing that can be engaged in interpreting paintings. The Beauty is appreciated when people starts to contemplate the harmony of the style, line, color, space, texture, value and shape. A person should not evaluate the painting by each of the elements alone but appreciate it as a whole. Once a person sees the beauty of the painting he or she will be pleased by it. A painting will not only portray the form and elements of the painting but it will also show a message of the artwork that makes it beautiful.
