These things were not available back in the countries where they were from or most surrounding countries. This gave them a very good position for trading and the overall wealth of the country. They had things that no other countries had making them very expensive and making these countries a huge profit. This left them in a great place economically and brought them up big.

This caused a huge increase in the African slave trade. They needed workers and the African slave trade could provide them. This caused African civilizations to go to war with each other just to stay safe and survive. They would sell other Africans just to get the guns they needed to protect themselves.
