Willy is asking Howard for a better job because he is tired of driving all the time because he is getting old.  But he gets fired instead because he is not performing well.  Willy feels betrayed because he worked there for 35 years  and was loyal and exceptional to the company. Basically what he is trying to say in this quote is that the company used up the good years of his life and tossed him to the side when he wasn't fully functional anymore.

The criticism of American society it portrays is that people are used only to make a profit and then when the Company fulfills their own needs they just abandon them and look for someone else to replace that job.
