When I teach comparative form of adjectives for instance, my students play the game where a sentence is given in positive and the next one starts with "Yes, but". In my class, my students love the most serious game "Nesi Var" is a game. A student from the class is removed. Other students are identified as living or non-living in the classroom. External student asks '' what's wrong with his friend '' he asks. Students in the classroom help a friend to find a feature related to the specified asset. I'm not going into details, but I'll mention some of the most interesting social and emotional development games I've recently started playing with my classes - they are all non digital, but students loved them and in my opinion the games have taught many essential qualities in younger students:

Wow what a totally new concept. I have used games before but had never heard of them called serious games before. The examples you gave for online ones were excellent.
I've used Crayon Physics with classes before. It's free and great for problem solving and learning without realizing it! It's simple to use and moves up in levels. I've used it in small groups and also for one child. It encourages them to support each other and the whole class works as a team to solve each puzzle!

In Luxemburg every student has access to mathematic.lu; this is a server where they can exercice different maths topics in their own rythm. They can also listen and watch explain videos before doing the exercices. They is also a robot game in it; where the student has to beat the robot who tries to catch them, by calculating , for example 4x2. If they have it right, they get a star. It goes difficult when they succeed more often. As they advance in a level they get more difficult tasks to calculate.

I also introduced already Minecraft Education & Star Walk Kids.
And even Simedeus is a serious math game.

I've used several serious games. These games are on croatian language. For example, one game is about childrens rights (UNICEF - http://covjeceispravise.unicef.hr/igra) and the other one is about digital comunication and behaviour on internet (petzanet.hr).

Serious games can be very effective for students and they can closely demonstrate some serious content for them.

Games were very effective, but I try to combinate games and speaking because, in most games, students don't speak and for foreign languages the most important outcome is speaking. I have not had a chance to play with my students serious games on the advanced level. We had a chance though explore some nice on-line games to cover the Road Safety topic https://www.think.gov.uk/resource/be-bright-be-seen-game/ Kids asked many questions about the game, they were discussing the events happening in the story introduced. I found them playing in their free time how they were 'safely crossing the streets'.

Unfortunately, the number of serious games suitable for French learners and available online is very small, according to my experience. However, that limited number of games are very useful and have proven to be very effective. My students were highly motivated, they collaborated during the game, they impulsively corrected each other and autocorrected themselves, they reconsidered every answer various times and they recalled many information mentioned quite a long period ago. As I said in my post at previous Activity, I never used games to teach Music, but I did assess some games developed with the purpose of teaching Music. One of the best examples is Music Ace (you can download a free demo for Mac and Win). It includes some of the typical games-mechanism: interaction and feedback, risk-taking and failure, tracking progression, customisations, time limits, focus on music theory, levels of difficulty. Why have I never used it to teach Music? Because I believe that Music is something that people do, so I teach music by doing music (appraising, composing and performing), and theory is made explicit only in a need-to-know basis.

I used Mingoville during a school project with afternoon sessions focused on English language topics with a native-speaker expert. We started some “Missions” to enrich vocabulary about animals, family, clothes, etc. However, I often used just some games in each level without complete all the missions. Most loved activities in Mingoville were “catch the fish” for spelling, “sing along”, wordsearch, “color this”, memory… my students were really excited. We used only one free account, so we played like a class-team, there wasn’t a real competition among students or groups.

For example games that are provided with the school books. They are on the net and are in accordance with the lesson's goals. I also use programs from the https://code.org site (during the code week). In thematic weeks I used some special programs about traffic code/ regulations, safer internet http://www.saferinternet.gr/ etc.
I think that they are effective because all of them contribute to achieve the lesson's goals by activating different pupils' neurons. Students like them because they are accustomed to that kind of learning.

I´ve used kahoot a few times for math and science and kids simply love it. My students also play games from https://www.hypatiamat.com/ that has several math serious games. Students play and learn concepts like multiples, divisors and others. Those games enable experimentation and offers progression. By playing them children can overcome themselves and their difficulties, so they learn and at the same time lose the fear of being wrong.

I used kahoot, quizlet but I have not used any of the serious games suggested in the intro or by other users. I hope I will try, however I think that the really serious ones need more memory or space in the system than the usual school infrastructure allows for. Also, most of them if not all require registration, which is a hintrance since some students / techers do not wish to set up more and more accounts and remember logins or passwords.

In my work so far, I have not used the serious games you represent in the text. I've been researching and finding a page about 10 serious games that have changed the world. I have never used a serious game in my class. I did a research now to find out more, and there are some interesting things out there that I could use in my class. I also found a serious game that takes place in my country, but I'm afraid it's maybe to violent. Although the title itself is quite violent, the sceneries in which the game takes place are actually gorgeous. The developers were visiting Brac Island on Adriatic Shore, researching local landscapes and traditional architecture for design needs. In our school we use a game similar to the one you showed in the video to work on emotional education. It is a gamified emotional education program created by the University of Lleida to prevent bullying and identify emotions, work on emotional regulation and responses to a conflict situation. It is called Happy and it is implemented with students from 10 to 16 years old. After a first introductory class, students have the opportunity to play with the video game. It is set in a school and, like the eConfidence, students can choose a character that will have to face different conflicts; first identifying their emotions, then stopping to think the different answers and finally, resolving the conflict. Depending on whether the answers are assertive or not, players will get points and progress in the game.
It is a very useful tool to detect the different responses of each student and try to improve relationships in the classroom and at school.

I have used some card games, such as "I have, who has..." or "It must be true". As for effectiveness, "I have, who has..." is one of my favourites since it is really easy to play and everbody has to participate (each student has a card and must say the name of the object in the card in English). On the other hand, I really recommend some other card games (e.g. It must be true!) especially for low-level students when it comes to learn a second language. It consists of giving them (teams of 3 or 4) cards with scrambled words. They have to build sentences that have to be true for them. The team with the most true and correct sentences wins. Student react in a very positive way since they feel confident because they are able to do a productive task where they can choose what they want to say.

I think I haven't use any of serious games in my teaching. Lack of tehnology is a big problem for that kind of games. I like that my students are all involved somehow in games so there is no enough tehnology for that kind of games. I did some research and I found serious educational game called Power Up. This game learns students about science and the environment. I've used the HourOfCode resources and Scratch (online as well as Jr) in programming lessons. We've also received a specially designed programming game in honor of Latvia's 100 year anniversary - this game was also aimed to improve the programming skills. We've used quiz-based games quite a lot. While quizzes are easy to implement and grade, other projects were more difficult to evaluate. Since my students are already in a high-school, they don't respond well to overly-easy games and game environments, yet they lack the knowledge to play anything more serious. Therefore, projects like HourOfCode and Scratch are not really engaging for all of my students, and I'm set on creating my own game rather than looking forever for a perfect solution.

I have used a serious game specifically designed for learning English, but it no longer works. I have been trying to recall its name for a while. I usually ask my students but now I would have to ask my ex-students. It is about a boy who travelled back in time and has to finish all sorts of missions to get back home. I have also used Poptropica and my students love it, but since we don't have internet access or a computer in most of my classes, it is challenging. We also use Minecraft sometimes and I really admire those students who love Roblox and have sometimes asked them to hold workshops to teach coding to younger ones.

I have never used a serious game, but after my research, I think PeaceMaker is a good one because it shows the reality of the war between Palestine and Israel along so many years without any solution. Peace is also learned in this game, since participants have to look for a solution. The game promotes critical thinking. I would use it to enrich the vocabulary of international law, in my Spanish class for 8^th graders and up, where I see students have already taken the course of Civics, Government, or Comparative Government in their native language at school. After taking those courses, students have the seriousness and understanding of the negative sequels that a war can create. With this game, they would identify themselves to support a culture of peace, and the learning of foreign languages promotes tolerance in all the world.

My students didn't play many serious games, perhapse 1 or two (in the 5th grade). I sometimes use serious games in my teaching. I find them quite effective, especially when a learning topic is important. Recently, I introduced the Present Simple Tense (3rd person singular) to my 4graders. In order to revise which verbs get -s or -es at the end, I used a simple game where the students had cards in front of them where there was the infinitive form of the verb written. Faced down, on the other side of the card, there was the form of the verb in the Present Simple (3rd person singular). Students had to say first whether the verb gets -s or -es and then turn the card over and check if they were right.
I often use the Wordwall games in teaching, too. There you can also find some serious games.

I often use serious games in the classroom: for example SCARABEO.

It is a game with cards on which letters are written.

After choosing a science or math topic, students must compose words that are relevant to that topic and all words must cross with the previous ones.

Another game is a science puzzle, with questions to answer in order to take every piece of a puzzle. The team that finishes the puzzle first wins but to finish the game it has to fill out a form with questions on the subject.

They are very effective and despite being serious games, they involve the students a lot and force them to mobilize knowledge and activate skills.

The truth is that I have never used serious games in my classroom. I am very eager to trying them , if it suited my lesson. I would use: 1)MathLands, an app for iPad, which features entertaining math and logic games to help kids build problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
2)ST Math, which provides students with self-paced, interactive learning activities to help improve their math skills. Activities are available for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

In teaching, I think I use serious games mostly created in web tools bookwidgets, learning apps., wordwall. I also follow the pages of UAL and their Virtual Reality and Neotri which are related to geometry, and show created games in which students can manage geometric characters and create content thanks to their imagination. This is one tipe of resarch that would be desirable to achive.
For exaple - We had non - digital game of creating carpets of geometric characters with the default rules.
