(Jayden)
(economic) We can conclude that Singapore, before 1819 was already a well connected and successful trading port due to its geographical location, many ships would pass through, and it was a haven for the pirates out at sea. This can be deduced as many artefacts from various countries were discovered during the history. (cultural) Singapore had different lifestyles and cultural practices as people from all over the world would come to Singapore to work and settle down. Traders from other countries would trade with Singaporeans to either to gain or to exchange their culture from one another until now that Singapore had many good relations economically or culturally hence, having us growing into a modern city that is a multi cultural place.

( jayden )
source 1 : gold ornaments with Kali, an Indian god, carved out on it.

We can infer from this source that Temesak had strong relations to the more specifically the Javanese. This is seen as the Javas brought their culture, being the carved ornament to Temasek as it had been found here in Singapore.

This means that the people from Java wanted to spread their strong beliefs of Kali or religion to the people in Singapore. Therefore, Singapore had a cultural connection with Indonesia before 1819 as the people from Java influenced the people in Singapore.
