What type of structure do you imagine working in? How do you imagine your career?
I imagine my future career in a hospital, particularly in the operating room.

A scrub nurse uses to take care of the safety of the patient, prepare the operating room, manage the nursing staff, assist the surgeon and monitor the patient during the recovery stage after the surgery.

The scrub nurse continues to monitor the vital signs during the surgery and also informs the surgeon if the patient is exhibiting signs of physical distress. Once the surgery is over, the scrub nurse communicates with that patient’s family and provides post-operative care information.

I’ve always been fascinated in assisting a patient in the operating room. This job requires commitment and dedication and that’s because nurses usually witness surgery for hours.

This work requires lots of patience and empathy, because the scrub nurse accompanies the vulnerable patient to surgery.

MANDATORY Summarize an article related to your interest in nursing.

Include a link to the article. You can use an article from our textbook (include page number)
You should write 50 - 80 words. If you want to write more , great!

The article I chose, which is very interesting to me, is about the surgical wounds. I think this is very interesting because in my hospital trainee,in the cardiology department, I became passionate in treating surgical wounds, in particular the chest wounds.

I would like to sum up this article which explains and lists all the skills that nurses need to know and learn during graduation.

The article analyses the healing of skin tissue after operation or damage through their normal process of repairing.

The article explains that there are two types of healing: primary and secondary intention of wounds, both characterized by four important stages in the healing process. Those stages are: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation and remodeling.

The difference between the two is the healing for the first intention, when the wound margins are closed and kept together by sutures, metal fabrics or surgical glue. In such cases, wounds recover rapidly by developing a linear scar which is often not visible.

The second intention is when due to the risk of infection or a significant tissue loss it is not possible to pull up the margins and the surgical wounds are left open. The recovery of the second intention takes more time than the first one because the missing or no-viable tissue must be replaced by new cells, so the resulting scar is more evident.

We can conclude by saying that the types of surgical site infection are also classified,in four classes of clean and dirt contamination.

https://teachmesurgery.com/skills/wounds/wound-healing/
