The Intolerable Acts comprised of Boston Port Act, Massachusetts Government Act, Administration of Justice Act, and Quartering act. These acts put the colonists in lockdown, they blocked the ports so the colonists couldn't trade, gave the royal governor most of the power during trials, forced the colonists to house the British troops.<br><br>This was a response of the British to stop anymore rebellious acts by the colonists.</div>]]></description>

The tea that was sold to the Colonies was sold at a low cost which led to the merchants in the colonies being paid less than what the actual price of tea from Britain was sold for.          <title>The Battle of Lexington and Concord 1775</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>On April 19, 1775, the tension between the Massachusetts colonists and the British soldiers escalated into a battle. The British had spies who informed the Royal Governor, General Thomas Gage about the cannons and other military weapons. General Thomas Gage also gained more control by removing military supplies from the colonists' reach. The Midnight Riders included Paul Revere and William Dawes who were informed by Dr. Joseph Warren to warn the people in Lexington and Concord. The men involved in the battle waited for the British soldiers. Soon a British soldier shot his gun then a battle broke out eight Americans were killed and 10 more were wounded. The British marched on to Concord then the Shot Heard 'Round the World was fired. The Americans were soon able to outnumber and beat the British.<br><br> This was a response of the Colonists trying to gain their independence from Britain.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Townshend Act was named after Charles Townshend, the chancellor of Britain. The Townshend Act added a tax on glass, paper, lead, and tea. The tax gained by the British would go to fund the salary of colonial governors. Charles Townshend appointed officials who would be paid extra for every convicted smuggler, which lead to many captured Americans. The colonist were angry about their right to a trial by their peers, adding on the the building tension between the Colonists and the British.<br><br>This was a response of Britain in order to continue to show their power over the colonists and to show the colonists that Britain controlled the colonies.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Declaration of Independence officially proclaimed the thirteen colonies separation of Britain's rule. Thomas Jefferson for a few weeks wrote the first draft and with the revision of Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Robert Livingston, Roger Sherman they showed it to Congress on June 28. At first not everyone agreed to it, after some discussion 12 votes agreed to the Declaration with 1 state choosing not to vote. on July 4, the final version of the Declaration of Independence was embraced.<br><br>This was response of the Colonists no longer wanted to be ruled by the British. </div>]]></description>

         <title>The Battle of Yorktown 1781</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Battle of Yorktown was the final battle during the American Revolution. General Charles Cornwallis of the British Army was retreating to Yorktown after losing a battle to General Greene on the East Coast. The British Army was surrounded by General Greene in front of them and General George Washington behind them. General Cornwallis tried to fight the Americans but decided to surrender after 11 days, Cornwallis attempted to surrender under his terms but agreed to Washington's terms after American troops were ready for another battle. The British surrendered on October 19, 1781.<br><br>This was a cause of the Colonists finally being able to gain their independence from Britain.<br><br></div>]]></description>
