How I Can Use Less Paper: Forget using fax machines, send emails or any online messaging system. Work Online, instead of passing papers and files do it online through emails or any group chatting website. At home use rags or cloth instead of paper towels to clean. Try not using paper towels, use electronic storage than files or any other sort of paper storage, and NO HOMEWORK. Wrapping Paper Alternatives: Use baskets instead of wrapping paper. YOu could also use cans, bins or buckets. use reusable bags or cloth.

One way I can stop or use less paper is: Don't use paper napkins or plates. Don't use paper for games, planes or poppers. Those are some ways i can not use as much paper or any paper. :)

For the whole world, the paper industry is the fifth largest user of energy, and in both Canada and the United States, the industry can release over 100 million kg of pollution every year.
2.) The consumption of paper across the globe has risen by 400% over the past 200 years, and so has waste. About 35% of the average landfill is made up of discarded paper. 
3.) Of course, the major issue of deforestation. Woodchipping has been a major environmental problem in New Zealand and Australia. In 2006, over 6 million trees were cut down and made into 16 billion paper cups, and only used for coffee. Over 253 million pounds of trash and waste was the result in the end. 

A good solution to the environmental issues caused by paper production would be cutting down heavily on paper usage and relying more on electronics for essays and homework. Your writing on electronics is virtual, not physical, so it can save space. Plus, when you delete work online, it won’t go to a landfill and contribute to the serious large piles of trash and paper there, unlike real life.

Though many companies are already recycling their office paper, here are a few other ways you can cut back on the paper trail you leave at the office:


  • Copy on both sides of the paper. This is especially efficient for internal documents and drafts. 
  • Reduce documents to fit two pages onto one. Use for circulating rough drafts or file copies of documents. 
  • Use lighter weight paper. Lighter paper requires less energy and fewer raw materials when it's manufactured. 
  • Find alternatives to mail. Use email, voice mail and fax modem transmissions whenever possible. 
  • Eliminate unnecessary subscriptions. Cancel newspapers, newsletters and magazines you don't read or can access online. Take your name off mailing lists to reduce junk mail. 
  • Do a "paper" audit. Determine the kind and volume of paper waste your company generates, then take steps to use less. 
  • Make recycling easy. Place recycling bins in high-traffic areas, including the conference room and kitchen as well as by the copier and fax machines. 
  • Use a routing slip to circulate copies throughout the office.
