Athena helps them by convincing polyphemus to bring his sheep into the cave with them at night when he normally does not. So, one of the signs he showed was wisdom and intelligence "My name is Nohbdy" (Homer Liner 315) He says his name is Nohbdy because if/when he tells the other cyclopes that this man has stabbed him in the eye and warn them. He will say his name Nohbdy instead of his actual name so it sounds like he's saying nobody. Some other ways he has shown charastics is Leadership. (Homer Line 766) In this he is trying to calm down his men and tell him they've done this before with another person, so it should be easy again.
