The Cobras have a mating season from January to April. When a female is ready to mate she begins releasing a special smell. She leaves a trail of scent everywhere she goes. If a male snake scents the smell it will follow the smell until he finds the female. If the male wants to have sex he will bump his chin on the back of the female's head and start crawling over her. When the female snake is willing to have sex she will lift her tail up.Then the snakes will rap there tail around each other.

Where does fertilisation take place? 

Fertilisation happens inside the female.

How many fertilized eggs are produced on average?

They lay 20-40 eggs. It depends on how much eggs the snakes wants to have. 

What is the gestation period (The length of time it takes for the embryo to develop)? I couldn't find any information about the time it takes for the embryo.

Is there any aftercare from the parents when the offspring is born? If yes,what is the care?

There is no after care and the snakes leave the eggs alone.

Inside the clutch there are usually two eggs. The Female Emperor and King penguins lay single egg each. All other species of penguins lay two eggs. A clutch that has more than one egg will have a better chance of at least one chick surviving.
When the female penguin lays her egg,  she passes it off to the male, who keeps it warm by tucking it under a pouch of skin above his feet. The male balances the egg there for about 64 days.
After the egg hatches, the chick's parents continue taking care for them for several months, until they are grown enough to learn to hunt for there own food.
