Will never forget the smiling face which greeted each and everyone with such joy and warmth, whether it was 8:00 in the morning or 9:00 at night. Still remember that it was raining heavily one day and I called college to ask if we would have classes. Sister picked up the phone and said, "don't come to college, it's raining to much and I dont want you to get sick." She didn't even know me. Thank you for always supporting us, be it sports or fest or any other event.

Sr. Ananda is indeed very special and unique, especially as a Head of an Institution /Principal. She is a Scholar, Linguist, College Professor, Doctorate in Literature, as also Poet, Writer, and Lady of Letters, an Expert in the choice of Words, as also a Dancer, Musician, Tabla player/Percussionist, Singer, and Creative person. She is extremely humble in her approach, very friendly, kind and considerate in her dealings with all people (old and young alike). She is one of the rare leaders who vibes excellently with the youth and the students: Her memorable phrases "jumping up and down" to describe the stubborn enthusiasm of the girls, and "got kicked out " to refer to internet disconnections, reflects her down to earth and funloving attitude. You have been an inspiration for me right from the moment I got to know you. I had never in my life enjoyed early mornings unless it meant sitting in one of your English literature lecture. I definitely don’t recall when you took over as Principal, and it doesn’t matter just now; I have fond memories of observing your very personalised and engaging Junior College English lectures, over a quarter century ago! Those very traits continued as you rose to head the college; gladly, with the same personal warmth and your capacity to transcend some of the challenges of the ‘hot seat’.

True: there were moments of joy, disappointment, uncertainty, fear, frustration and excitement. You almost always managed a healthy balance. I am delighted to have worked under your leadership and direction.

I still remember the day I stopped you in your tracks out of desperation because I didn't get single major in Literature. You asked me to come to your office and talk. After a very embarassing meltdown, you were generous enough to get up from your seat to pass me a tissue. Your kind and gentle reassurance calmed me down immediately. I live that day very often. It reminds me to be a kind person.

I had the privilege of being your student and experience your greatness. It inspired me to become a professor myself. It is only now that it has passed that I realise how precious and rare that time was. I miss it everyday. Sophia will suffer a great loss with you gone. It will never be the same. Know this that you have made an impact on many lives like mine. You will be missed and remembered for years to come.

Ever since my first day at Sophia, you have been a ray of inspiration. I still remember your wise words at my FY Orientation. You have played an integral role in molding that starry eyed student to the woman she has become today.
I believe that leading a woman's institution must be one of the most difficult experiences. Teaching students to never back down, while keeping them in line— that cannot be easy..
