2) Planning for teaching - One outcome from your participation in these sessions is for you to develop you own learning sequence or augment existing instructional materials so that discourse and equity are a strong part of the learning experience for your students. In preparation for this planning time, think about a lesson/unit topic/instructional segment that you would like to work on.

As you read, jot down phrases that speak to you, and write down in your notebook why you find them important.

4) Think and jot down: Consider the following questions: Why do you think student discourse is important for the teacher? And for the students? Write down in your notebook and share some of your ideas in the first slide of this Jamboard  here (I3 - Pre-session Homework)

5) Think and jot down: Based on your current classroom experience, what are some challenges you would anticipate with classroom discourse? Write down in your notebook and share some of your ideas in the second slide of this Jamboard here (I3 - Pre-session Homework)

6) Think and jot down: How do you currently plan for student discourse in a science lesson, or how would you expect planning to be done? Write down in your notebook. You will share during the session.
