Thank you so much for being you.  For being kind in spirit, generous with your time and for suffering fools like me so patiently.  I have been lucky to work with you in different teams, roles and circumstances and have loved every moment of it. I have learnt so much from you and am in awe of your ability to handle good and bad fortune so consistently well.  I’ll miss not working with you.

Life just won't be the same. I'll miss the calm approach and meticulous attention to detail that you always brought to project proposals. You were a pleasure to work with over the years and, as the six and a half years of the current Iraq programme come to an end and we prepare for another submission, it is difficult to imagine going forward without you.

What can I say... It has been a pleasure getting to know you over many many years. We have enjoyed social occasions, as well as having many chats and laughs in the office.  
I will be sorry to see you leave after all this time, but also happy and excited for you as you take another path and try something different.
I am sure I did pass on my personal details to you, and it would be great to hear how you are getting on from time to time.

This really does feel like an end of an era.  I have worked with you for much of my British Council career.  I clearly recall the numerous proposals we worked on when you were in the Production Resource Team.  You somehow managed to incorporate last-minute changes and improvements and you always did it calmly and professionally (perhaps with an occasional grumble!).  And of course we then spent four years together working on MENA.  By this stage, you were the authority and “go to” person on business development.  In this period we saw a big expansion of work in MENA and you played a massive role in this.  I will miss your experience and wisdom and overall calm approach to work.  I know you are ready to move on and I am sure you will make a big success of whatever you do next.
