But, occasionally I do receive occasional notifications  from the news on my devices. Other than that, I keep my distance.
I believe the first time I heard about the virus was from a family member, most likely my father. I didn’t think a lot about it then and continued with my normal day-to-day life. Unfortunately, as time went on the virus kept spreading around the globe “New cases found in…”. I understood that it would only be a matter of time until it reached the United States. 
Yet, I was still in shock when my school had to close down. All of a sudden it seemed so real. When all these things are happening in foreign countries, it seems so far away, so out of touch.

Now saying that I was disappointed about the school closing down would be a lie, I was more than pleased and I’m sure most of the students attending American Heritage were too.

The entire virtual learning experience is a blur. I remember very little. What I do know, is that it wasn’t much of a struggle. The school day went by much faster, and I had more time for myself. But, I did miss the lunch hours with my friends. In addition, online learning can’t replace in-person learning it just isn’t the same, and whatever changes you make to it it still isn't in person. Classes aren’t as interactive and exciting: One, teachers are limited with what project/activities they choose. Two, you don’t feel as compelled and raptured in a lesson. 
(It’s also worth noting that being glued to a screen for 8 hours a day is simply exhausting).

All in all, virtual learning had its highs and lows but I am glad to be back in person. I am aware that there are thousands of people who have lost their jobs and even lives because of Covid 19, and I understand how lucky and privileged I am.   
I’m an introvert. So, quarantine wasn’t a big problem for me. 
But, I did miss out on a lovely vacation. I believe it may have been the week before spring break. My family and I had planned a lovely voyage to Vermont. My father and I had spent a week trying to find a perfect home to stay in, exciting activities, and places to visit. Unfortunately, the week before spring break everything closed down in Vermont. So it wasn’t any use in going, and even if it hadn’t closed down it wouldn’t have been wise to go. Plus, my grandparents were with us, so it wasn’t worth the risk.

Personally, I see the pandemic as a small sneak peal of what is to come in the future. I fully expect there to be another pandemic. There are so many diseases in animals we have yet to discover, it's just a matter of time. Nonetheless, quarantine was an…interesting experience (for lack of a better word) although hopefully I won't go near it in the following years.

I mostly used applications such as Duolingo and such. I’m not sure what my intentions were in learning the language, I guess I thought knowing 3 languages wasn’t enough. Whatever it was I was motivated during the time, and I would practice each day. I learned the entire Russian Alphabet, (how to pronounce and write) the basic common phrases and words, as well as pronouns. It is safe to assume I was pretty invested.

Unfortunately, I did end up stopping. I’m not sure why. Maybe I lost motivation or got overwhelmed by the overly complex Russian grammar. During the quarantine, I focused on human anatomy, mostly facial features. I would often spend hours at my desk listening to music while sketching. Answer: Yes, I fully expected the virus to reach the United States. When you look at the cases and spread of the virus, it seemed inevitable.

Question: What did you do to protect yourself and your family?
Answer: Of course, I took the standard precautions (wearing masks, social distancing, washing your hands, etc). But most importantly I made sure to educate myself on the situation and viruses, diseases, pandemics, etc. I read several books of the genre.

Question: How did you feel about the vaccine rollouts?
Answer: I was very glad there was finally a vaccine. I waited a week or so before getting it to make sure there weren’t any bad side effects (just in case), then my family and I got it.
