         <description><![CDATA[<div>Sometimes I feel like I have two sets of privilege, one of being "white" in terms of colour and Canadian citizenship, but I also feel like I have power from my cultural upbringing as a Lebanese immigrant who went to school with a majority of other arabs and blacks. <br>I find myself being able to "code switch" among both these identities, and consider myself "privileged " for both. <br><br></div>]]></description>

My mom is an immigrant as is all of my relatives on her side(at least her generation). Whereas my Dad is from a white, irish, middle class settler family. And I'm constantly struggling with knowing the "code of privilege" but not being able to be in the group (dad's side) and then also having a different code, but not fully accepted into my mom's "racial identity"</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Even though according to Arlo's chapter/reading, I am both white and racist, I don't quite associate with this whiteness. I spent more than half of my life on a continent with many shades of white. I can't, even in white supremacist Canada, fell clumped up together with Irish descendants, whose shade of white is much more pink/white than mine. Which brings me to question I had while reading this: are recent immigrants racist, just by being white-ish, and not actively fighting racism?</div>]]></description>
