Assalamualaikum and hi everyone. For this week we have test 2 which include topic 'Aspect of Biotechnology in Microbial Ecology' and 'Introduction to Microbial Genetic' which only include gene expression and gene regulation.

This week, we continued the topic of 'Introduction to Microbial Genetic' part 2 which consists mutation and gene transfer. What I have learnt about mutation is the types of mutation which is point mutation and frameshift mutation and how silent lead to silent mutation, beneficial mutation and harmful mutation. The causes can be divided into 2 categories which is spontaneous mutation that does not caused by mutagen and induced mutation that is caused by chemical or physical mutagens. There are 4 types of mutagen that is base analogues , chemical mutagen, radiation which consist ionizing and non-ionizing and intercalating agent such as ethidium bromide that cause frameshift.

I also learnt about gene transfer via genetic recombination whic it rearrange DNA.There are 3 steps on how the gene transfer that is transformation, transduction and conjugation.

tq.
