Their goal was to capture a series of ridges, but from the start they were faced with many challenges and problems. The purpose of Anzac day is to remember all Australians and New Zealand solders who have died in military operations and people who are still serving today. After the time was up they returned to fighting as usual. One of the most amazing parts of the campaign is the evacuation.
