Nurse is one of the main characters in the play, Romeo and Juliet. Her character nursed Juliet from birth and rasied her as her own child. She is the Capulet´s main nurse but is not blood related to them, in upper class house holds the nurse is told to take care of the child so that the mother does not have to. The nurse is very kind and trustworthy, she has a very close bond with Juliet. She will always make sure that she keeps Juliet happy, even if it means going up against Lady Capulet (Juliets real mother).

In the beginning of the play, Nurse was told to take care of Juliet until she came of the age to marry. So the nurse did as she was told and took care of Juliet, she also fell in love with her.Nurse´s primary emotion was that she is overjoyed and very proud of the young lady that Juliet is growing up to be. She has had a positive effect on Juliet´s life, these effections also help Nurse forget about her losses ( her husband and daughter) and makes her become even more happy than sad.

After she finds out about Juliet wanting to marry Romeo she is a little reluctent at first because he is from the other house, but then realises that she just wants Juliet to be happy. She was not going to take any rudeness or disrespectfulness from Romeo or any of his friends. ¨An´a speak anything against me, I´ll take him down, an´a were lustier than he is, and twenty such Jacks; and if I cannot, I´ll find those that shall. When she meets Romeo she tells him that he better treat Juliet right and that there shall be no foolishness around the young lady. ¨Now, afore God, I am so vexed that every part about me quivers. Scurvy Knavel pray you, sir, a wor; and as I told you, my young lady bade me enquire you out. What she bid me say, I will keep to myself; but first let me tell ye, if ye should lead her into fools paradise, as they say it were a very gross kind of behavior, as they say; for the gentlewoman is young; and therefore , if you should deal double with her, truly it were an ill thing to be offered to any gentlewoman, and very weak dealing¨(3.4.140-147).Romeo now speaks to the nurse in a respectful way and promises her that he is in love with Juliet and that he would never hurt her.

In the poem ¨Wolf¨ by Native Americans, the narrator reflects some of the Nurse´s emotions throughout this part of the play. The nurse is being protective and is always by Juliets side. Juliet was the nurse´s ¨daughter¨. When the narrator said that ¨your best friend will be there¨ this relates to the nurse because she will always be in Juliet´s corner. So when Juliet feels alone or does not know what to do she can turns to Nurse and Nurse will try to tell help her.

The poem ¨When I Lost You¨ talks about how the narrator feels after they lost their loved one. This relates to the nurse, because Juliet was the Nurse´s world, she loved Juliet and treated her as her own. For example the verse ¨ I wish I could see you one more time¨ relates to the nurse, she lost Juliet so fast and she wished that she coukd have said goodbye before she was gone. This poem relates to Nurse because this poem describes exactly how she feels. Also, the text from the play ¨Alas, Alsa! Help, Help! my lady´s dead! O well-a-day that ever I was born.¨ (4.5.14-15) relates to the poem as well.

After looking at a single character in the play, it is clear that the character´s emotions have had a large effect on the actions that the other characters have taken. The nurse´s emotions in the beginning of the play were happy and joyful, she loved Juliet and Juliet was happy, that was all that really mattered to the nurse. Towards the end of the play the nurse´s emotions changed to sadness and disbelief. Juliet was becoming impatient, she wanted Romeo right away and the nurse was concerned about Juliets mental state. Juliet also killed herself in order to be with Romeo in heaven, which caused the nurse to become very sad.The audience can now see that the nurse is the one who really went through a lot during this play.
