In the 1590s, women and men wore a variety of clothes. A popular trend during this time period was ruffled collars for both men and women alike. The popular clothing style for women were dresses, with wide "trumpet" sleeves, and bodices with a high and broad or low and square necklines. Shoulder rolls were emphasised in dresses with jewels. Lastly, in the winter, gowns with hanging sleeves often were lined with fur.
