When I think of the technology I grew up with I think of television or the Bluetooth speakers we listen to music on. But when I asked my grandma about the types of technology she had at home she said she grew up on a farm and for a long time all they had was a radio and then they got a phone.

She said, "Baby all we had was a radio mama played music on while she cooked and cleaned while me and my 5 siblings would play outside and help daddy on the farm".

I couldn't imagine not having a TV growing up.

But I can't imagine not having access to a phone outside of my house.

I asked my mom about technology when she was in school and she said she didn't really go to a good school growing up so the only technology that really had in her class was a TV and that's basically where they learn anything digital.

For me, that was very shocking to hear because at my school growing up we only had a TV in the classroom if we were having a free Friday and we were watching a movie in the class or the teacher wanted us to see a certain film that required a VCR.

When I asked my mom about her first phone she said she doesn't remember what was her first phone but one of her best memories with the phone what's being at her grandmother's house and there was a rotary phone and she was just figuring out how to use it for the first time and she said she remembers getting so frustrated that she just stopped using the phone and said she just rather talk to the person when she went back home.

That story was very funny to me because I've always been interested in using a rotary phone. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to have a phone and have to spend the numbers and then go back and do all those things just to make one phone call especially if it was an emergency.
