Cultural Appreciation at home

This is a Fabergé egg, which is a traditional Russian jeweled decoration. It was originally used by the Russian royalty to place eggs during dinner or breakfast time. Nowadays it is used as a home decoration. My family appreciates the historial side of the countries they have visited, which is why they bought the Fabergé egg, they wanted a souvenir to remind them of the Russian culture. I don't consider it culture appropriation because my parents did not buy it as something to display in the house as a decoration, they liked it because of the history behind it.

What kind of feelings and thoughts come up for you when you hear the word HOME? Why?

The first thing that comes to my mind is language and my country because are things that determine my country and comfort zone.

Do you imagine yourself having a new home in another country? Why?

Yes, but that is mainly because I've always been open to the idea of studying in another country and experience new things and cultures.

How is Art useful to appreciate other cultures at Home?

I consider art a form of cultural expression, it protects perspectives of how they see the world from each culture. It gives us insight.

My Relationship with the EnvironmentStart Assignment

The relationship I have with the environment is personal, mainly because I tend to go out to the garden and spend time there in order to connect with nature. I respect the environment and for the same reason I always look for ways to minimize the damage that we as a society cause on it, our environmental footprint.
I feel that I am part of nature because I feel relaxed whenever I'm on a environmental surrounding. I also feel part of the environment because as a human being, nature itself is also a living being, so we interact with each other.

I believe that my perspective comes from my family, mainly because my mother and my grandmother have always been involved in environmental activities, as well as practicing gardening since very young.

-Yes, in this course based on the social problematic that I chose for my project, I created a song to raise awareness.
What did I learn about other cultures and perspectives by analyzing its art or cultural expressions?
-I could learn the different forms of expression, as well as the different problematics that are reflected through art in each country.
How can art be useful to spread awareness about important global issues and promote social justice?
-Art can be a potent tool for spreading awareness about global issues and promoting social justice by evoking emotions, conveying powerful narratives, fostering cultural dialogue, engaging the public, and serving as a platform for advocacy and activism.
