She says the majority of Australia's banana growers have been affected by Cyclone Yasi. Loans were offered to businesses who were affected in Cyclone Larry in 2006, and Ms Julia Gillard told the news that they were going to do something similar with the Cyclone Yasi. 
The second response was made  by the red cross foundation. In the year Cyclone Yasi struck Red Cross staff and volunteers have visited more than 12,000 homes in some of the worst affected areas, including Mission Beach, Tully, Japoonvale and Cardwell, to check on how people were coping with this traumatic experience.
