Week One - Initially, I am a little skeptical about this overall assignment, as I have a few ideas that I wish to achieve but I am unsure whether or not I am capable enough to create the outcome. I am excited though because it is an interesting way to begin the course and a good way to learn a variety of skills. I like the fact that all the assignments flow from one to another so that it doesn't feel like lost of assignments but 1 big one.

Week Two - After creating the list of potential ideas, I have been able to narrow them down to one idea that I would like to use. For my video, I will be making a video to advertise the youth group that I am a leader for. The main reason that I picked this idea, is because it is something that I am passionate about, and also because the youth as it stands doesn't have many outward modals to advertise the group to teenagers. So, the goal, is that this video will hopefully be used to actually advertise the youth bringing more people to God.

Week Three - This week, we began working on the website and coding it. Although the process is long and tiresome, I have actually enjoyed the process as when I code something correctly, I get a really good sense of accomplishment. This week, I will be talking to my Youth Pastor to discuss the video. The meeting this Friday, to discuss what the video will contain, and to gain permission and approval to use footage of the nights as well as the logo and information regarding it.

Week Four - An obstacle that has appeared is that of COVID-19 and the limitations of public events that are taking place. After talking to my Pastor, we are going to look at photos over previous years that I have taken and see what can be done to edit this is the best possible way with the restrictions that are in place.

Week Five - As the whole COVID-19 situation is developing the overall look of my idea is that I have been thinking about how I can create this view with the restrictions that are in place. I got to thinking that instead of making this a full promotional video, I was thinking that I could make this video about how even though these tough times we can stick together but showing footage of use using online methods to stay together through the hardships and the struggles. Changing this video from promotion to more of an empowering video about family.

Yadav, A, 2011, 'If a picture is worth a thousand words is video worth a million? Difference in affective and cognitive processing of video and text cases', Journal of Computer in Higher Education, pp. 15-37.

This source is an investigation that was conducted to see the relation and the advantages of three different types of video format. The three types were a video on its own, videos with only text, and a combination between the two. Each video contained the same about or information that was equivalent to each other. This was done to test there memory 6 week later after the experiment to be able to see which form translates best to the participants. Based on the results, the participants that viewed both the plain video and the video with text, led to high levels of engagement and recollection, as well as sympathy towards the characters within the informational piece itself. The research suggests that in order to gain extensive engagement with participants for a video, the audience need to engage emotionally in the content that is being shown.
This source is good in regards to my promotional video due to the fact, that in order for a effective engagement with the audience, the video needs to be able to engage emotionally with them. This will allow for the audience to remember the video easier as the emotions that are attached with the video will create a bond with the audience and allows them to retain the information easier.

     2. Cho, H, Stout, P A, 1993, 'An extended perspective on the role of emotion in advertising processing', Advances in Consumer Research, vol. 20, pp. 692-697.
This article aims to observe the "perspective on the role of emotion in advertising processing" (Hyongoh Cho, 1993, Pages 692-697). This article discusses an investigation that was taken place to be able to test the emotional responses in advertising towards an audience. The results of this investigation suggested that "certain emotional responses tend to exert greater influence on the audience than the cognitive advertisement. This article also discusses the change in the style of advertising since the early 80's from information based advertising to more of an emotional response based advertisement. "Overall, the emotional components in the consumption experience are inseparable from self-expressiveness of oneself, and when consumers look for emotional experience in the product, they are likely to become more receptive to the value expressive attributes in the product as opposed to utilitarian attributes of the product." (Hyongoh Cho, 1993, Pages 692-697).
Based on this source, it can be understood that in order to gain an extensive amount of audience engagement, similar to the previous source, the advertisement needs to be able to engage with the emotional responses of the audience.

3. Dobrian, F, 2011, 'Understanding the impact of video quality on user engagement', ACM SIGCOMM Computer Communication Review.
This article discusses the relation between the quality of the video and the engagement of the audiences are extensively related. This article says that "the percentage of time spent in buffering (buffering ratio) has the largest impact on the user engagement" (Florin Dobrian, 2011). Despite this, the source says that the extent of this impact is dependent on the content of the video.
This information means that in regards to my promotional video, that the less "buffering" or interference that are present within the video will decrease the amount of engagement. This means that the quality of my video needs to be professional and every piece within the video holds intent and purpose.

Attention: The video will start with flashes of images of the youth, snapshots of moments from events over time. They get faster and faster before it shows the logo for the youth group. By having fast-moving images to being with, it will create interest as the audience will be intrigued as to what the images passing by are.
Interest: This will be achieved by showing kids their age having fun, playing games, etc. By having the target audience presented in the video, it creates a connection between the video and the audience as they will feel that they are a part of the event/video.
Desire: The delivery of feelings and emotions will be presented through the music that plays in the background of the video as well as the emotions presented on the people that are in the video itself. By creating an exciting and fun atmosphere it enclines the audience to be a part of the video and the atmosphere itself.
Action: At the end of the video, the aim is to have kids explore the idea of youth groups. To have parents and kids alike to look into this or other youth groups, to see the opportunities that it brings to their children. To not only give them a fun place to go but allows kids to get a closer and deeper connection with God.

Treatment
Fast-moving images of the youth and events will flash up on the screen one after the other, with fasten music playing in the background to accompany it. At the climax of the music after the images flash by, the logo for the youth fades fast onto the screen, before fading away as the actual music begins.

The logo is replaced by clips of the youth doing various activities, playing basketball, worshiping, playing games and doing challenges. In between the videos, there will be kids either saying or the writing of the word "Friday". This word will continuously be said throughout the video to draw attention to the day that youth takes place. The video will show clips of kids having fun, of the leaders looking happy, to give off a warm and inviting environment.

The video will end with a flash as multiple voices say "Friday 7 pm" as the details of the youth appear on the screen with the music still playing in the background. A bible verse will be at the bottom of the screen, to allow for further understanding of what we are about as a youth, it will be a verse that the reflects the purpose of the youth. The verse will only be the section so that it emplores viewer to look it up, creating intrigue about the bible and God.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGlTieM1Z3w

This video has upbeat music along with flashing effects on the screen to create fun. The video is a representation of the full event of going to this particular youth group, to show the audience what they could potentially be apart of. The person that is narrating appears to be the Youth Pastor, this is done to show the authority that he holds, whilst also connecting to the parents and caregivers of the youth to show the professionalism of it as well as a safety aspect.
A way that this video will be similar to the one that I will create is demonstrated in the chosen style of music and the ending. The music is meant used to relate to the youth themselves by presenting music that they would like to listen t, which is a similar concept that will be demonstrated in the video that I will create. The ending of the video is similar, as they have the kids of their youth group say, "see you on Wednesday", which will be similar to my video repeating the word "Friday" with the voices of the kids.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjFrlT8AHrs

This particular video, shows the literal day and the life of a youth attendant, showing the first-person point of view of a child in order to create personalization within the video and to make the audience feel as though they are a member that attends.
The only similarity is the use of music, as it is both upbeat and engaging, which will be the main feature of the music that I intend to use as the background sound.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l446JMMVveg

This video was an example of lack-luster advertisement, as it had the information of the youth at the beginning, with that being the only youth-related part of the video. The rest was of the bottom of a skateboard as someone skated around. Although the use of the skateboard was a way to connect with the audience on an interest that most teenagers have, the overall video was not one that would commonly be associated as a youth group advertisement as there was no correlation between the two.
This is what I intend not to do with my video, as I want people to understand that this is for a youth group. While I want it to break down pre-existing ideas of the stigma that surrounds youth groups, I still want the video to be related to the overall idea of Youth.
